This!Of the rumored parties interested in Medvedev the Blackhawks interest me the most (personally)because they are out of division. Considering how much they paid for Kimmo I would be careful about the asking price.
Raffl, IMHO, is a decent complimentary player. When with on an offensive line he can clean up the loose pucks and pot some goals. He does not create a lot of offense on his own. He does play a responsible game but when he has been with the lower lines trying to create offense his defensive game has slipped at times. He is a really good depth player and on a top team is the kind of player who steps in for the injured player and does big things and then settles back to his role when everyone is healthy...I would move him if someone actually inquired about him. As part of a package...sure...but don't kid yourself. He is a player who is not going to have the same value with every team in the league.
Schenn....don't trade him. Hakstol has done a really good job this year in how he has handled Brayden. He put him on the 2nd line and left him there. He had a role to grow into and that is that. When Cooter went down he didn't move Schenn, he brought in another center. The reward is that Schenn is playing more complete hockey every night. His offense could be more consistent, but his game, shift in and out, has improved. If we can sign him for say three years at Cooter money...do it. If it is much higher than that....then the decisions get harder.
Don't Trade:
Any prospects (I include Cousins/Laughton in this category)
Giroux
Simmonds
Couturier
Ghost
Voracek
MDZ
Mason
Schenn
Everyone else can be moved for future pieces IMO.
The reason I wouldn't include them in that category is that they could potentially be used as a package to acquire a true number two-type center or in a package to improve the team elsewhere - I'm not sure those players, even being young, are untouchable types because of where they are on the depth chart right now - you do need players like that in the bottom six but it doesn't make them untouchable, to be honest
If you put our prospects and these 8 players on the no trade list only Streit has any value.Don't Trade:

I thought after the way Couts has played we were grooming him as our number two center of the future.I lean towards not moving any younger players, BUT, as you point out, if you can leverage them as part of a deal for a true number 2 center I would have to think long and hard. I wonder once Leier joins these two at the NHL level how they will be deployed.
I think you can get a worthwhile return for:If you put our prospects and these 8 players on the no trade list only Streit has any value.
Other than Streit how much would other teams pay for two bottom pair defensemen 2 fourth line players and a guy who cant even stay in the NHL. I hope im wrong and we get a nice haul for them but if im another team I don't pay much for those guys.I think you can get a worthwhile return for:
Streit
Medvedev
Schultz
Raffl
White
Gagner.
Streit and Schultz both have 1 year left while the other 4 are UFA's. Schultz has a low cap hit so unless someone over spends, he should be kept. I see Streit maybe moving over the summer. The 4 UFA's for next year are readily replaceable.
Teams that need someone for their PK may be interested in White. Big return, no, but he is probably gone next year.Other than Streit how much would other teams pay for two bottom pair defensemen 2 fourth line players and a guy who cant even stay in the NHL. What if they make the playoffs do you still unload these guys?
The return of Couts and a favorable schedule for the next 10 games.Well, these guys need to be moved within the next 10 days. We're not making the playoffs in that stretch of time, but we could make a push upon the return of Couturier regardless.

I don"t think we would miss Medvedev, Gagner or White. Raffl is a close call. We would miss Schultz and Streit. What if they make the playoffs do you still unload these guys?
Unfortunately we usually have trouble with the non-playoff teams. It's true. The next 8 games we play are against non-playoff teams and then we have that potentially crucial home/home with Tampa. We need to gain some ground here, even minus Couturier.
