For all of the people who are thinking about Drouin as being the next Seguin or Turris....don't forget that he could be the next Alexander Daigle or Pat Falloon. Just saying

Yes and you certainly have to question the character and maturity level of this 20 year old kid. He has one brief Nhl season under his belt (decent, but not lighting the world on fire) and now he's refusing to even report to games in the Ahl? Who in the hell does he think he is? We want a team guy, not a selfish brat, so I absolutely would not send a 1st round pick their direction for Drouin.

As well as the Lightning are playing right now, who can blame them for benching a 20 year old and attempting to get him more ice in the minors? If they will take a player, mediocre prospect and/or lower pick, it is worth the gamble, but otherwise no.

No way in hell I'm giving up one of our good, young players or a 1st round pick.

Drouin represents a unique problem. He is a player who needs to play to get better. He, or his agent, don't see playing in the AHL as an option. He was drafted by a team that didn't need him from day one. Because of that he was sent back to juniors and then played in a limited role. If he had been drafted by say the Oilers, he would have been playing regularly from day one on a top line. Truth be told I doubt he would be any more advanced.

Frankly, he is not a player that the Flyers need. They need a LW who can play in the top six. They could eventually use a 3 center and or wing.

For Jonathan Drouin, I would say Mark Streit and maybe one of the defensive prospects like Robert Hagg? Honestly, I feel like if the Flyers were giving up a 1st along with Mark Streit to make this deal, it would make the Flyers seem like the buyer and they aren't in a position to do that - the Flyers need to be all over teams who are desperate to win now(ala the deal they made with the Kings) - teams like Nashville, St. Louis, Minnesota, Anaheim, etc that are probably going to be aggressive in the next month or so to make deals because they still have areas on their teams that they have to address

I think another under the radar team for Mark Streit's services could be the Islanders - yes it's a division rival but their blueline has been stricken with injuries and they probably need some help - they're not moving Travis Hamonic until the offseason unless they get a great deal now so if they get a player like Mark Streit for the stretch run, they can cover theirselves for at least another year if they don't eventually get a great return for Travis Hamonic - and Mark Streit played with them before so it would be a natural transition
I would be fine with this but would TB who already have Coburn and Carle from us would they really go for two more Flyers defenseman? I know If I was them I wouldn't trade Drouin for this deal but like I said I would be happy to get Drouin for the two defenseman.

Laughton strait up for Drouin. Cousins and Gagne can fill the 3C and 4C spots until Konecny is ready next year.

From ESPN Insider, take it for what it's worth:

Philadelphia Flyers
Record: 23-19-9 (Seventh place)

Status: Moderate seller

buysell6.png
While Flyers fans are unhappy with the results this season, they should feel good about the overall direction of their team. GM Ron Hextall seems to understand he needs to move out bad contracts and acquire assets to build on an already strong prospect system.

Potential targets

  • Cam Fowler, D, Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks may be moving out one of their defensemen. Star young defender Hampus Lindholm is an impending RFA, and Anaheim would be wise to lock him up long term. That may leave Fowler, who has a manageable $4 million cap hit, as the odd man out. The Flyers have a good group of young defensemen coming up, but could use a proven defender to take top-pairing minutes, taking the place of Mark Streit, who is nearing 40 years old.

  • Brendan Perlini, F, Arizona Coyotes: The former 12th-overall pick has seen a drop in his stock since being selected in 2014. He has just 31 points in 39 games for the OHL's Niagara Ice Dogs this season -- though 17 of those are goals. The Coyotes are still somewhat in rebuilding mode, but will be ready to compete next season and may be interested in a player like Brayden Schenn, who can step into a second-line center role. Outside of Wayne Simmonds, the Flyers lack goal scorers to go along with their playmakers Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.

  • Cap relief: Moving Vinny Lecavalier's contract off the books was a big help to making room for the next wave of young players' deals, but there is still more work to be done. Forward R.J. Umberger is under contract for $4.6 million for the next two seasons, and Streit is owed $5.25 million next season. Next season, Jakub Voracek's deal kicks up to an $8.25 million cap hit, so the more older-player contracts they can move the better, even if it is for very little in return.
Assets to trade

  • Brayden Schenn, F: Though the 24-year-old has turned into a reliable secondary scorer, the former fifth-overall pick has never turned into the star offensive center the Flyers hoped when they acquired him from the Kings. As an impending RFA, they could look to move him for a proven player under a reasonable contract.

  • Mark Streit, D: At his age, the veteran is still playing around 20 minutes per game, but he is no longer worth his $5.25 million contract, which runs out after next season. There aren't many teams who could bring on big money, but a contender in need of a veteran blueliner could get some benefit out of what's left in the tank.

  • Michael Raffl, F: After a 21-goal season in 2014-15, Raffl has only six this season. Still, the 27-year-old is a cheap depth forward who is an upcoming UFA.

I read this yesterday. ESPN has crap hockey coverage. I would think the only returns to accept would be cap relief and picks. I can't see Hexy taking on any players or salary. Also, I don't think Schenn gets moved. As a RFA, I believe Hexy will get him on a team-friendly deal as a secondary scorer for 2-3 years and allow him to cash in, if his production continues to increase in the prime of his career.

Agreed Schenn looks to be improving every game and can continue to build. Why move him and for what real benefit? Plus he can play center or wing nice to have.

IMO, you don't move an improving 24yo when you don't have to. I don't see them moving Shenn unless they're blown away by a deal which the other team demands he's part of...

Exactly unless he demands a ridiculous amount of money but I can't see it.

Well he might ask for a crazy amount initially, but he'll come back to earth eventually if he knows what's good for him... Would he rather play in Philly with a chance to win or a crappy team like Winnipeg?

Blackhawks rumors say the Hawks have inquired about B Schenn, Raffl and Medvedev. Were told "NO" on Schenn's availability, on-going discussions regarding the other 2. Apparently Medvedev is good friends with Panarin.

Definitely make the move on Raffl/Medvedev if we get the right offer. Hextall has to be smart about this (and I'm sure he will be), but quite honestly, we can still make the playoffs without either of those two guys and we may not have them in our future plans anyway. Stock the cupboard with picks and prospects, then potentially bring up Leier and Morin to get a quick look at them at the Nhl level.

Even if we narrowly miss the playoffs, these moves will all benefit the team moving forward.

This!

Raffl is 27 I think we've seen what he will be for his career
Medvedev sometimes looks great and sometimes looks like he never played before.
I hope someone inquires about Streit next.

I kind of agree las. I think Hextall is going to cash in nicely by the TDL. He knows this team is in a minor rebuild somewhat. He knows he has to sell rather than buy. Let the young corp grow together.

Hextall has steered this team in the right direction since he has been here I don't see him messing up at this point. He has continually said if the trade makes sense for the club he will do it.

PS Nice to see you post again Mall.

Thanks buddy. I have been out of the loop this season with the Flyers for whatever reason. I usually won't miss a beat witht he team, but for some reason I'm out of touch this season. I think I need to look at streaming services next season since I dropped my cable service. Here is a question, maybe you or awaz may know? Can you get gamecenter or center ice with Roku?

That is definitely an AWAZ question I have Time Warner and never stream games as I bought the center ice package.

Yeah Roku works for Game Center

Just make an account for Game Center(if you don't already have one) and they now sell single team packages here: NHL.TV
