If it comes to it, I would think Schenn would approve a trade at this point in time. He is in the last year of his contact. He may be the odd man out here and destroy any hopes of getting a decent deal as a FA by small minutes or being a healthy scratch. On another team, say Carolina, he would at least get the playing time to prove himself.
He should be playing here to prove himself over a guy like Gudas. Hopefully that's the case and we pump up his trade value and he will look more attractive to other teams.

With the abundance of healthy dmen right now should the Flyers parlay this into draft picks or possibly use one and a forward to upgrade a position? Seems like a good opportunity right now...

Defensemen - they need to stockpile more draft picks - if they can get a third line type and a pick for one of the d-men that'd be nice but picks will certainly be good to have

With Luke Schenn now out 2 to 3 weeks with an ankle injury and the increasing likely hood that the Flyers will recall someone from the Phantoms...the increased lack of scoring grows.

Eventually I see possibly both Schenn's moved. Don't know if it will be together or in separate moves. As long as multiple draft picks return in any and all moves I will be okay with playing the long game.

We may have to wait until the deadline to get max value for both hopefully another team needs either or both of them and we free up a space for a young dman and we could bring cousins back up.

Considering the simmering Vinny issues IMHO they really need to get him moved. Yes, he has a no move which means he has to approve any deal. Yes, his contract SUCKS and the Flyers will have to eat at least some of it which Hexy has hinted he has no interest in doing. In fact, Hexy has shown little or no interest or inclination in moving Vinny or doing anything to make the situation better. If they can get anything in return and don't have to eat more than 1/2 of the value, they should do it. Frankly it would be addition by subtraction.

At this point I think Hexy would take nothing in return. Why in the world would any team want him with that contract? Everyone is above the ceiling floor so the only reason another team would trade for him is if you include a top prospect. Hexy will not package one of the young prospects to move him.

Just a thought. Do you think someone would take him if we threw in Robert Hagg. We cant have all of these prospects come up we just don't have room.

I was think that but if I am a team considering it I would insist on one of Provorov, Sanheim, Ghost, Morin or Konecny. I could be wrong but I really don't think anyone would Vinny and his contract.

If Hexy gives up any of those prospects just to get rid of a contract, he should be ashamed

The Flyers have to live with that contract - if they can get rid of it or at least alleviate part of it somehow, then great, but giving up any significant prospect just to get rid of a contract is an absolute no-no

It'd be nice to get rid of Vinny, but there isn't exactly a need to do so. We aren't going anywhere significant for the remaing two years after this that he is on the books. It is going to get tight on the cap these next two seasons, but once we get through we'll be fine. Vinny's contract is short enough that we can just the bullet and let it expire. I am more worried with MacDonald being signed for so long.

Yeah that's gonna be a problem I think - they can live with Vinny's contract since there's only two more years of it

Would you give up Hagg to get rid of Macdonalds contract?

Considering the prospects they have ahead of him, who knows, but that's assuming someone would even want A-Mac and I'm not sure that's the case right now

Believe it or not, AMac might have some value come the deadline. The Flyers might have to creatively eat part of the contract, maybe half of next season for example, but for a veteran who can play top 4 minutes, can play on the 2nd PP and PK and eat minutes with the right partner, yes, he would have value. Not huge value, and it would depend on the teams going down the stretch with needs....Streit if healthy would command more clearly. Plus his contract has less term on it. AMac's length of contract would only be attractive to teams playing a long game and not looking for a rental.

He isnt even a top 4 guy on our team. He has another 4 years of contract at $5 mill per season. There is a reason he has been in the AHL for almost the whole season. Any GM that traded for him would be fired within 24 hours.

24 hours is generous

With that contract he has no value to anyone. If someone would need him for a top 4 they are in for a long couple of years.

Even to get rid of A-Mac's contract I don't give up a prospect on Hagg's level, certainly not higher. IMO that's getting ahead of yourself. The Flyers shouldn't really be considering adding much salary in the next offseason or two anyway, it's just bringing up young guys on cheap contracts to fill in for the rentals (LSchenn, Gagner, Gudas, BSchenn, Raffl etc.)

The Vinny and AMac contracts are bad, but I don't think they're getting in the way of the Flyers future at all.
