As mentioned, Sandberg/DeJesus was pretty freaking bad. Ferguson Jenkins for Larry Jackson and Bob Buhl has to second worst.

A lot of people will bring up Curt Schilling, but he was going to have to go regardless considering how badly he wanted to pitch for a contender. Still, I wish we could have gotten a better return for one of the 10 best pitchers of his generation than Omar Daal, Travis Lee, Vicente Padilla, and Nelson Figueroa.
It was worth it just for the Padilla Floatilla

You can't beat the Sandberg and Bowa for Dejesus deal but that trade they made for Freddy Garcia in the mid 2000's was pretty awful.

Good trades I'd have to say Wise for Carlton, the one where we got Tommy Greene for Jeff Parret and a couple career minor leaguers, Chris James for Kruk . And man for man it's not ridiculously lopsided but trading Samuel for Dykstra took some balls and worked out well.

Most of the time, though, the Orioles are on the good side of a horrible deal. The Frank Robinson deal has been mentioned. I'm waiting for a Mariners fan to talk about the Eric Bedard deal.

Trading away Bob Tewksbury, Doug Drabek, Al Leiter, and Fred McGriff while they were all still young for washed up players in the 80s. Granted they were all in separate deals.

The one that pissed me off the most was Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps.

Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek for Heathcliff Slocumb

Adam Jones, Chris Tillman and George Sherrel for Erik Bedard.

We gave away Asdrubel Cabrera.

Shin Soo Choo for Ben Broussard

Why we ever traded away Omar Vizquel, I’ll never know.

There’s a ton to pick from for the M’s.

A few of the worst...

Liriano, Nathan and Bonser for Pierzynski

Duffy and Fox for Moore (still early, but Moore has already been a proven bust)

Some good/great ones...

Rios and Vogelsong for Vander Wal and Schmidt

Watson and Macey for Snow

Rosin and Joseph for Pence

Alderson for Sanchez (directly led to a Champinship)

Culberson for Scutaro

Williams and Hubbard for Vizcaino, Kent, Roa and Tavarez

How about Swift, Jackson and Burba for Mitchell and Remlinger? The Giants were appreciative of that one.

Probably because they had a much better player waiting to get called up?

Willie McGee for Bob Sykes
Fred McGriff for Dale Murray
Mark Melancon for Lance Berkman

Mariano Rivera for Felix Fermin was agreed to by Big Stein. Gene Michael threw a fit and threatened to resign. God bless your soul, Stick.

I feel like I should have a lot more awful trades by the Phillies but it seems like they have done such a shitty job of drafting players since Paul Owens left that most of the "prospects" they trade away end up not panning out anyway.

Well the Mets traded away Nolan Ryan.

But more recently, trading away top prospect Scott Kazmir for 2 years of Victor Zambrano is just painful. What if scenarios, what if the 2006 Mets had Scott Kazmir on their staff? It's entirely reasonable to think they'd have been a World Series team. Instead they lost game 7 of the NLCS with a pitching staff in shambles.

Robby for Pappas is the worst the Reds ever made, at least so far as what it ended up being.

One could argue that Brock for Broglio was the worst in modern history (being the last 50 years or so) though the Carlton trade puzzles me forever.

Does it have to be a trade?

Because nothing the Rangers have ever done will be worse than the contract they gave ARod.

I don't know...

Ron Darling & Walt Terrell for Lee Mazzilli?

I'd say Bagwell for a guy that threw 22 innings for the Red Sox is worse.

Not my team, but the Padres have made a few doozies...

Kluber and Greenwood for Ludwick

Rizzo for Cashner
