The Q
Hoop’s Villain, Reality’s Hero
I thought the plan was Sanchez for Game 3 and Scherzer on 5 days rest for Game 4...?
He won’t have 5 days rest for game 4. He’d be on regular rest in game 5

no but with his connection to Cora and part of a team that the Sox want their organizational philosophy to be built around...he makes a lot of sense.
now is not a time for them to get self righteous.
Every year at this time I keep in mind 1986 where the Red Sox won Games 1 and 2 in New York and the Mets wound up winning the World Series anyway. Of course 10 years later the other New York team did the same thing to Atlanta. That 1986 series was the first one I ever watched. I was in 4th Grade.
And both game 6's were absolutely epic.
I hope Washington holds on and wins the series. I'm enjoying the Bryce Harper angle to all this.
Harper is a really really good player.
The Nats were in a unique situation to be Able to afford losing Harper because they had 2 young cheap Ofs ready to play and used the savings on much needed pitching to add to the team.
Not pursuing Harper allowed them to upgrade the team in other ways as well. The Nats rotation had issues last year and Corbin and Sanchez, two guys who played a huge role in the Nats rotation bouncing back. Nats outfield wasn't that great, Robles and Eaton were pretty average. Harper would have made it better, but the dropoff in outfield production was definitely worth the upgrade in the rotation. The Nats rotation had the most Wins Above Average by a landslide (14.7, Houston was 2nd at 10.8) and led all rotations in Fangraphs WAR.
What will be interesting is that IF the Nats hold and win the Series, is Harper's first trip back to DC with the Phillies.I hope Washington holds on and wins the series. I'm enjoying the Bryce Harper angle to all this.
I don't see this series going past 4 or 5 games max..
Nats are just the hotter / better team.
Our bats have gone to shit and the Nats are a more scrappy team than we are...no way we dig out of this hole...
Just saying-in '96 the Yankees got completely dominated by Atlanta in the Bronx. I believe the cumulative score of the first two games was 16-1.
Newspaper stories were all "Yankees shouldn't be on the same field with this juggernaut" "The NLCS was the real world series"
And the Yankees were looking at Glavine, Avery, and Smoltz in games 3-5 back in Atlanta (if it got that far!)
Crazy shit can-and will-happen.
He pitched Monday. That's 5 days' rest. It's up to Martinez if he wants to go with Corbin or Corbin/Ross/etc.He won’t have 5 days rest for game 4. He’d be on regular rest in game 5
