Do you know what a baseball manager's job is ? Did you just start following the game ? Serious questions.

Get with the times, grandpa. In today's parlance, you ask that question like this:

Dude. Bro. Do you even baseball?

btw, did you take that pic in your avi?

My cousin did. They have a place on a lake in upstate NY that I've been visiting every summer since I was a kid and where my ashes will go when I kick the bucket. That's from their front yard. Sunsets are her specialty, but that was an especially good one.

Bullshit your bullshit.

Roberts can't pitch for Darvish, but he could have -- no, SHOULD HAVE -- had the sense to have him on a SHORT leash after he'd shat the bed so badly in Game 3. Darvish looked shaky in the first, and gave up two runs. Buster Olney reported that Darvish was bouncing pitches during warmup and clearly wasn't on.

I can understand them starting Darvish, but to put him back out there for the second without someone warmed up to jump in the second he walked McCann is just fucking stupid.

It's Game 7, Roberts, you dipshit.

I agree with this 100%.

In 2014 Tim Hudson pitched game 7 for the Giants and was done after 1.2 innings. To put it in perspective, at that point he had given up 3 hits, and 2 runs and a walk. Struggling yes, but not completely terrible in the grand scheme of things and could rebound. However Bochy put him and everyone else on an incredibly short leash. He brought in Affeldt right away. He even told Affeldt before the game to be ready to go really early in case something happened and that he was turning to him early.

Darvish should have never been allowed to give up 5 runs. After struggling in the first inning, Roberts has to get someone up in the pen right away. It's game 7. You pull out all the stops.

lol. That's what we call it.. "the camp" .. and it is awesome. Cleanest populated lake in the USA. They have 100' of lakefront left out or 800' my uncle bought during the depression. Only the very wealthy can afford to buy on it now, which they're not, but they're still holding on, hopefully at least until I'm gone.

Yes, I'm totally butthurt because a manager of a team I don't root for blew Game 7 for them. . .

I know I've read some of your posts before, but I can't remember if they were as retarded as this. Can anyone else on here shed a little light on Monty's ability to put together cogent posts?
His first 2 pitches of the night were meatballs and it didn't get much better after that. It happens. Sometimes athletes have a bad day.. especially pitchers. It's up to the manager to recognize that and act accordingly. Roberts stayed with him waaay too long. If I was a Dodgers fan I'd be looking at Roberts.
LOL! Midway through the second was way too long, huh? Geez, I wonder if Roberts knows a little bit more about his staff than you do. Hmm, maybe his pen was spent, maybe he had faith in Darvish's ability to work out of a jam. I'm confident that Roberts, far more than you, knows what he's doing with the Dodger staff, but maybe that's just me.

And again, I am confident that Roberts knows far more about his staff than you do, including what their current condition and availability was. I'll take his judgement over yours any day.

...but they lost in part because he left Darvish in there to give up 5 runs

I'd be looking at the constant failure of the hitters with runners in scoring position.

So your opinion is valid, but mine is not? Ok.

He's got to be able to expect Dravish to make a pitch or two to get out of the inning. He'd done it all season long. he did manage to coax over a hundred wins out of this staff after all.

If you constantly assume things, then you're already behind. It's game 7. It's not game 2. There is no other game after this. You can't assume a guy will rebound after an already shaky first inning. That's why they lost. EVEN if he assumes his pitcher can get through another few innings, don't you think it's prudent to have a contingency plan just in case it does not?

Yes, when he's pitching like dogshit in game 7 of the WS and he'd given up 5 runs, the last 2 on a bomb by a guy who'd been hammering them all series who had just hit a double off of him on a meatball he'd served up the inning before, the 2nd inning was way too long.

This isn't just Monday am QB'ing. People in this thread were calling for him to be yanked. They were even discussing the possibility on the broadcast. It might not have made any difference in the outcome, but Roberts stayed with him too long.

So which is it? He coaxed wins out of them or "highly paid professional athletes gave him a professional effort" for 104 games?
You do realize you sound contradictory, right? In one breath, you're saying the players do it all and he has no influence and then you say he got the wins out of them.
