if they don't add anyone else this season's opening day roster will be worse than last year's. bullpen will definitely be a lot worse but opening day starting 5 will also be downgraded and the positional DH/bench roster will also be degraded. my projected 2024 final record will be somewhere between 2022 (68-94) and 2023 (90-72) and probably out of the playoffs

Disagree re offense.
Minus Robbie and Miller we are still better
I think DH is better. No Bubba or JOM later most likely. Want one more pen piece at a minimum but not worse
Starting pitching is thin

We have 3 more roster spots to fill and then some after 60 day IL is in effect
To think all the additions will be MILB callups is shortsighted IMO

we may get something finalized with Bally within 2 weeks

I think the flurry for the league will be between now and about Jan. 20. When the Rangers are going to sign anyone is really hard to tell. I am not even sure if they have a significant signing coming this offseason. They appear to be waiting out the relief market to get the leftovers.

We lost Ragans for basically one reason with a terrible fallout or ripple effects The one reason was because CY has no respect for stocking the bullpen with quality in the offseason. The fallout occurred by having to use young starters in the pen. Then Bochy refused to trust Ragans and let him rot in the pen. That caused Ragans to have very little value in the Rangers' decision maker's minds. Therefore, he was easy to trade for a washed-up Chapman.

Sign Hader and another reliever to keep that from happening again.

KC has been active and a few other teams have had some signings, like the Diamondbacks, Reds, and Cardinals, I believe.

Hader may not happen, but that will be a mistake if they don't pursue him.

One thing about that is that there are a lot of teams that sit on their hands every year, all offseason long. The Rangers used to be in that boat.

Rangers just won the World Series. They lost their TV money. They have 3 starting pitchers who won't be active until July. Ownership doesn't want to pay CBT .

I don't expect any significant signings this off-season. And I don't expect to contend in 2024.

They get a one year mulligan from me. 2025 is a different story though and I expect the Rangers to look to contend in 25 and beyond.
