When the Rangers acquired Hedges they were desperate for a catcher and were pressed for time ti find one. Neither is the case this offseason. There are much better options than the Clubhouse Jester to get to backup Heim.

Hedges is gone free agent. May get a spring training invite with any team and probably get sign to minor league deal for depth

Mainly because we didn’t have much quality depth in the outfield especially CF. We used Adolis out there at times because we just couldn’t find an adequate full time player so we kept running Taveras out there hoping he would come around.

Yeah, but no matter the reason, he has still had a lot more chances than those two put together. He is not in the same category as them.

Duran has dug a hole for himself with management. Don’t know what he did but they put Smith and Hedges on the postseason roster for the ALWC, ALDS, ALCS and the WS and even though he was in the dugout through out all of them he was as far away from Bochy and the other coaches as he could get

Why is that even a question? My remarks are all about not lumping Taveras in with Huff or Duran when it comes to how many chances they have been given. You are reading some things into my comments that aren't there. I am not sure why you are doing that.

With Smith there no need for Duran and Hedges had a reason as back up catcher.

If Heaney comes back, I would stick him in the bullpen, or trade him.

I was a little surprised he opted in. Thought he might pursue multiple years in fa. Perhaps he is ok with his role as a spot starter or relief. Hard to get a read on him during his post W.S. interviews. He seems to be good team guy.
I would think a trade is on the table with him and a few other guys.

He might have seen the number of other SP/RP types who also opted out and realized that his market was impacted.
