game over
Shots on net 36-20 Canada. scoring chances much closer. score 2-1 Russia.
Reimer sucks.

congrats Bears. having watched both games, you should slaughter Finland tomorrow.
CZE vs Sweden should be a good one. Probably CZE take that one.

I'm sorry but how exactly was this loss his fault considering he was on the bench today?

Well at any rate good on Russia for winning today. Should be two exciting semis again this year.

I expected nothing less from a team of players that didn't make the playoffs or got bounced early.

Way to go Canada :thumb: :L

apropos of nothing, there is only one Russian (Datsyuk) left in the playoffs.
(Salei is a Belarussian... so 1.5?)

The Islanders asked Streit & Okposo to stay home because they missed either the entire NHL season (Streit) or most of it (Okposo). I don't know if Neilson played for Denmark or not. Nor do I know if Grabner played for Austria. Tavares played for Canada & Montoya played for the USA. So that's 2.

His wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I think somewhere near 9lbs.

i know ... grabner basically posted the commentary of the entire childbirth on twitter ... took forever ... more than 24 hours i think

He's just waiting for his agent to call & tell him about the new contract he's going to sign. At least I hope so. The last thing I want to hear or read on my TV is Grabner SIGNS OFFERSHEET FROM fill in the blank.:faint:

probably the most entertaining gameof the tournament going on right now.
after two periods, Sweden 2, CZE 1

Swe had a penalty shot, and #21 tried to relive the postage stamp (fail).
Backlund with an unbelievable wristshot for the go ahead goal - back across the body, top cheese off the post. The kid is just so hit or miss... During the swe - usa game, he was benched for the whole thing. dressed, but didn't take a single shift.

there is a hell of a lot of offense for a 2-1 game.

Swe with insurance. 3-1 now.

Backlund made a pinching defenseman look silly, and showed great patience on the resulting 3 on 1. #12 cashed in.

/for you kids out there... If you decide to pinch, you have to take the puck OR the body. I don't care which. CZE d-man got neither.

as I type, Swe gets more insurance.
some CZE player gets hauled down in the slot, so blatantly that half of the players stopped skating (expecting the call). Play continues down the ice, and Sweden scores after jamming the puck free from under the goalie (something that has been called all tournament). CZE players are going apeshit. with good reason

4-1 Swe. 8 min left.

edit again> elias snipes one, 4-2 with 5:30 left.
how big is that blown call now? (answer: pretty big)

Berglund with the empty netter to seal the deal. 5-2.

not sure if I will watch Russia - Finland.
from what I've seen, Russian should win that on in a cake walk

We would have had 7 but like streit and okposo we had steckel and volchenkov asked to stay home because they finished the season with injuries.

Good to see Backlund having a strong game...One of these days (hopefully soon), he's gonna put it all together and realize he's a very good player.

OK this game is a little better than I would have thought.

Russian powerplay OV, Kovalchuk, Morozov up front.
nobody is a center. Koivu is eating those face-offs up. lol.
