just as an aside ... heard a story yesterday Id never heard of or just plain forgotten if i did

2007 Roloson was canadas world champ's goalie and performed really well leading canada to gold

2008 Yzerman was the gm for team canadas world champ team asked roloson to join the team ... Rollie accepts ... then is told that Cam Ward will be the starting goalie ... so Roloson bails on the team

I guess Yzerman is big on forgiveness

can't really see a group of death anywhere :confused2:

gotta love the youth that led the way today.
Skinnerrrrr!

need to reel 'em in a bit, though... they gave up 7 penalties to a team that barely had the puck

Al Montoya is the starting goalie for USA. My least favorite Devil (Mark Fayne), a guy I think shouldn't make the Devils roster let alone the US national team, is playing D. I know these teams usually aren't Olympic caliber, but my god what an assortment of misfits the US put together.

The Islanders asked Okposo not to play because he missed most of the season. They want him 100% for next year.

Norway beat Sweden for the first time in history (5-4 shootout).
it's almost too bad 3 teams go through from each group...
otherwise some of these upsets would actually mean something.

Norway put a little fear into the US this morning.
got up 2-0 before the States woke up... 4-2 final USA

Canada hopefully kicks the cheese out of Switzerland tomorrow.
they always play us tough though. Just find a way to stick around.

Swiss leading 1-0 after 1. didn't see the goal, but apparently it was some cheese.
Swiss team only has one NHL player (Sbisa), but their goalie (Genoni) is neutralizing the chances so far.
fortunately, 1-0 isn't too big of a mountain to overcome.

Phaneuf Dioned some dude (Moser), who skated off no problem.
30 seconds later, he's doing the shake'n'bake at the bench.

seems to be OK now... pretty scary though.

finally - Eberle cashes in to tie the game.

I didn't see the first period, but this 12 min in the 2nd has been ALL in the Swiss zone.
16 shots in this period already.
Genoni is a freakin' monster. I wonder who owns him?
