2-1 for the good guys.

some swiss dude tries to sweep-check Tavares, and puts it top shelf in his own net.

Beiber-fever misses a penalty shot. Reimer basically stood still on that one.
still 2-1, 5 min into the 3rd

fwiw, Genoni is 23, plays for Davos, and is undrafted.
he might be earning himself some NHL looks today (ala Hiller)

Swiss ties it up (wristshot from the point) with 12 min left.
canada gets powerplay, promptly give up SH breakaway - to beiber again.
he tries the exact same shot, with the exact same result.
Burns misses an open net on a great feed by Nash.

urgency level is a lot lower than the 2nd period.
damned swiss, just hangin' around again.

Switzerland ties it up with 1:30 to go.
Canada running around like a bunch of Dions* in their own zone.
horrible coverage.

*ironically, he wasn't on the ice. Schenn / Methot were the d pair.
Ladd / Clusterfuck / and whoever #15 is

no problem, dash....

Alex Petrangelo (who had a terrific game) wins it 4 minutes into OT.
nice wristshot from the face-off dot.

Swiss was very clearly playing for the shootout
with their goalie, i don't blame them.

Canada wins the group

US - Sweden tomorrow should be a good'un.

I like the fact that they got a stern test from the Swiss today (Hitch is not going to like that late goal that tied the game).

Go Canada Go!

Phaneuf Dioned some dude (Moser), who skated off no problem.
30 seconds later, he's doing the shake'n'bake at the bench.

seems to be OK now... pretty scary though.

Sweden leading the US 4-1 near the end of the 2nd period.
Montoya has been a little shaky in and out of the net.
Berglund leading the way with 2.

Okay where's GILLIES? Who does that punk think he is?? Losing Martinek was bad enough. If Tavares gets hurt there will be HELL TO PAY.

I haven't seen any of these games. I've heard the 3rd & 4th lines for Canada have been much better than the top 2. Is this correct?

no, he didn't slew foot him or anything. he tried to sweep the puck off of Tavares' stick, and chipped it right into his own net. Top cheese :)
I'd say the lines have been very balanced. Hard to differentiate between top and bottom 6. I'll try to pay more attention to lines next game.
off the top of my head, Kane / Stewart / Eberle has been good. Skinner / Tavares / Nash are just silly talented. Don't know if they are together all the time.
Clusterfuck / Ladd are an annoying 4th line, and Zajac makes them dangerous offensively.

Sweden beats US 6-2. Montoya was REALLY bad.
giveaway behind the net led directly to a goal, and at least three others were weak.

Canada plays US on Friday morning

Montoya was signed to a 1 year two way deal. It's a deal I can certainly live with. He was great considering all we gave up was a 6th round pick & Al was the 6th goalie to play for the Islanders last year.

The Canada vs USA game could get UGLY. Canada brought a very talented team to this tourney. They aren't playing any games here. They want the GOLD.

I've heard Nabby has been awful for Russia. I guess he hasn't gotten rid of the rust yet.

shit, thought I had taped this one.
ohwell, missed the 1st period.

Conks in net for the States after Montoya shit the bed on Weds.
Shots in the 1st were 14-4 Canada. that trend seems to continue so far in the 2nd.
(three posts, as well)

fuck... US gets a weak one against the run of play.
Komisarek long distance floater through Reimer. (Reimer, you suck)

Burns ties it up on the powerplay, with the knuckleball from the slot.
