Has anyone considered moving Posey directly to LF against LHP's to platoon with Blanco, and just leave Belt at 1B? He'd be there like 40-50 games or so against lefties - a nice way to give him a break from catching. He's enough of an athlete and it's not that demanding a position that I think he could do it. And HSan has a .736 OPS as a RHH from 2011-2013, including .860 last year. So, in essence, we would be platooning Blanco and HSan in the lineup.

Posey is SUPER slow, so would be a HORRID OFer. I cannot imagine he will ever be a LFer.

Think Yogi Berra. That worked out pretty good.

Granted, Buster's not as witty, but a few Busterisms could change all that.

Watching him run is so funny! Slow, slow, slow! Love him, but no. Not a fast guy.

I kinda imagine the new GSP commercials that air during UFC events. Totally deadpan with no signs of a sense of humor.

Outside of that, his personality is EXACTLY like Berra's :)

Especially in the post-season.

Agreed, but my point is I don't think we can pick and choose. We need all hands on deck to battle the Dodgers. There's a finite window IMO, time to step up.

Pitching is more important, and if it has to be a choice we can go with another crappy year from the LF position. I just think we'd regret doing it that way.

Plus in the postseason, you only need four starters, not five. Cain, Bum, Timmy, and whoever is hot. The LF plays every day.

OK I'll try some:

"It ain't over till it's over...the fence"

"I ain't havin' it....and you ain't takin' it"

"It's like deja vu all over again...like the Reds and the Cards in the 2012 playoffs"

Doubtful. If we have a solid rotation, we'll compete for the division. And if we need a LF, we'll add at the deadline.

Rotation, rotation, rotation. (and JLo)

To GET to the postseason, you HAVE to have a solid rotation. The starter pitches every game and has a much larger impact on a game than any one hitter.

You just want a bunch of 2-1 games.

I'd like to see more 6-4 games.

Seriously, money is money, and impact is impact. If we have money to spend and it can make an impact, I'm happy either way.

Giants had the lowest OPS production from the LF position last year
30th out of 30.
Just sayin'

Yeah, that stat has been bandied about. Some things it doesn't tell us:

1. What the OPS+ (park adjusted) is and how it ranks;
2. Why AL teams would be included, as they have the DH (Gs really 15 out of 15)
3. What the average NL OPS+ is and how far we deviate from that.

I suspect the delta isn't that much. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well first off #2 is nonsensical, how does the DH matter in showing the Giants had the s-hittiest bats in left in all of baseball? If anything it makes the Gs look worse. Left is where teamas put their bad fielding good hitters. With a DH the AL teams can hide that guy, left can be a w:eaker hitter. But the Giants still put the worst hitters there in all the game. We are supposed to have an advantage with a good hitting catcher, but if your left fielder hits like a catcher how does that help?

and talking about park adjustments is dancing around the issue our left fielderrs hit like shit last yr.

its hard to see how a guy as sharp as you doesn't see a problem .
