Will the Rams be affected by the lackluster performance in the Superbowl. As a Seahawks fan I am hoping this is the case but what does everyone else think?

History says yes.

That defense was terrible considering they had 2 or 3 of the best D linemen in the game.

Cooper Kupp will have to rebound from injury.

How many times will Gurley carry the ball 3 times in a game next year?

I see a big regression to the mean coming.

The division is Seattle's to lose.

Getting embarrassed in the Super Bowl will stay with them.

I think a lot will depend on WTF was up with Gurley. Goff relies on the play action and having McVay in his ear....I can definitely see him having a Derek Carr-like setback.....still don't trust that guy. After putting all their eggs into the 2018 basket, it'll be interesting to see how they can keep this thing running.

I think the blue print is out on how to stop their offense. The bears exposed them in the regular season and the pats followed suit. It has me worried the bears offense, which is very similar, might have similar struggles.

Yes you can't keep paying guys with no heart like Gurley, Suh and Cooks.

IDK about big regression, but I agree with post #2.

I don't expect they will keep the team intact...They've got to prep for the Donald and Gurley spikes next yr. Probably will contend for the DIV title...anything more right now is a wild guess until we know the 53 they bring into Sept.

Seattle led the league in turnover margin last year and was +10 on Fumble Turnover Margin which seems unsustainable. I don't think its crazy to think that the Rams will be the favorite again in the NFC West next year if Seattle regresses in that area.

I thought the Rams, Saints and Chiefs offense all slowed down a little bit as the season ended. I think they are all going to have their own issues. They all played well defensively in the playoffs. (Chiefs would've probably been better defensively if Dee For....nevermind)

I had next year as the year the Patriots and Steelers were going to regress a couple of years back but maybe the Steelers started a year early and the Patriots might be holding things off for another year.

Rams are going to have to address roster issues and I think teams are going to really test Goff next year.

Yup, the Patriots are a fine example....

:stephena:

yep, because the other 31 teams in the league always do everything like the Patriots ....

any comment made by anyone regarding this league should have an asterisk next to it which indicates it applies to all of the league except the Pats because no one can sustain consistency except the Pats. They are in a league of their own.

I think regular season, they will likely be okay. They are the best team in the division and I don't think that will change. Roster moves are a big key as you all have said. Suh was kinda hit and miss a lot of the season but he played his best football in the play-offs. I think he will get a lot of offers in free agency. As everybody has said, a lot depends on Gurley and that effects Goff. They might not be a juggernaut but they should still be an 11-12 win team, I think. Play-offs could be a different story. I want to remain optimistic about the Seahawks and maybe they will keep things close with the Rams but realistically, I still see the Rams as a step better. I don't think the Rams have the division clinched by Thanksgiving again though.

The Rams are currently #2 out of 32 teams. Probability suggests they're likely to drop rather than rise. The Rams are built around their offense. 10 of the starters are under contract for 2019. LT Whitworth could retire so that could drop to 9. Donald, Talib, and Johnson will return on defense for 2019. The other 8 starting spots and much of the depth chart is up for grabs.

Depends on the team... Atlanta seems to have never recovered. :D

This loss for the Rams could hurt for a while.
I'm not so sure the Falcons had a huge drop off. Still had double digit wins in 17 and won a road play-off game before losing to the eventual champs. 4-2 in arguably, the most competitive division in the league. Two really piss poor performances in early October vs. the Bills and Dolphins that season cost them a possible 12 win season.
This season was a down one but they were riddled with injuries and had no running game at all really. And the defense was not good. Can't blame that on the SB hangover.

I don't think it'll happen (at least in TTL too terribly much) but there are some cracks in that armor that are exploitable by the smarter DC's out there. I don't think they can walk up and expect 30 points most works anymore, just a hunch.

I guess it depends on your definition of lackluster . Recently the SB loser has fared fairly well the next year
