Gotta give props to that last Steelers TD, that was a fun move the receiver made.

Herbert threw more picks today than he did all SEASON (4 vs 3)

You don’t see that every day

Steelers fans amaze me. They want him fired? They have had like 3 coaches in the last 40 plus years....bottom line is he had a pretty average team overall. They lacked playmakers on offense (except for Pickens). Yet, they still made the playoffs.

Did he make mistakes? Sure, but every coach does. No coach is perfect.

They are spoiled.

It's not putting him on a pedestal, it's more how he approaches a game with his team.
I'd agree but I dont think they dont have the QBs to play finesse. Its why Denver unceremoniously dumped Wilson and nobody else picked up Fields.

I remember being on the other side of this a bit. Steelers had Antonio Brown and Le'veon Bell. In their prime they were monsters. Now they have Pickens and Harris. Decent but not monsters.

A family member is a Steelers hard core, been saying for years he wants Tomlin fired because the poor baby has not seen his team win a Super Bowl in several years. I laugh at him, as in the past he took a roster that had no business being in the playoffs. The Wilson Magic appears to have worn out, now what do they do with 2 mediocre QBs? I know Ravens fans got nervous when they came right out in the 2nd and cut it to 14. They have blown a lot of leads.

As for the other game Justen Herbert makes more amazing throws into tight coverage than maybe any QB in the game. But he always struck me as a tick below elite and we saw it again last night.

Yeah, but bounced in the first round the last 5 times, at some point it comes down to what’s the point of them even making the playoffs at all?

Tomlin is a good coach and he does seem to elevate mediocre teams to a higher state but it has become clear over time that there’s a limit to what he can do, so why would Steelers fans want that year after year?

Herbert had a bad game but I think Quinton Johnston going for 13 reception and 186 yards the previous game gave him unrealistic ideas. The Chargers were a 5-12 team on its last legs last year. They need one or two more drafts before we should expect them to contend.

But Herbert also has to play better, too.

As I recall, just about all the Steelers plays early in the game were short passes or runs. Nothing threatening down the field so the Ravens could condense the field closer to the line of scrimmage. Basically making it more difficult to run and pass short, so it plays into the Ravens hand as they are the more physical of the 2 teams. I might be full of it, but that's kind of how I see it. I don't disagree that they don't get dynamic play from the QB, but that doesn't mean you can't try to make the D defend more than 15 yards of the field.

If you see the Ravens as the more physical team but they're also the faster team....they should've won the game, right?

Because the Steelers fans are pointing the finger at the wrong guy. It's not Tomlin's fault the roster is not good enough, without him they don't even have the records they have putting up recently. He got pretty much everything he could get from rosters that just aren't good enough. And until they get another franchise QB this is where they will remain.

It’s Tomlin‘s fault that his teams always shit the bed down the stretch every single year because he's not actually that great of a coach anymore.

What good is finishing above .500 every year if you always crap the bed in the first game? All you do is put your team in a position to never draft the franchise QB they desperately need especially since the team seems to have to have an aversion trading up to get one.

The Ravens did win the game, but I think Tomlin's style made it easier on them. I think they win either way, just believe that maybe the Steelers went at them early the wrong way.

I think he is a decent coach. It is the nature of professional sports that you generally need to tank or you need to find a superstar QB when everyone else doubts them.

I feel like I've seen this before. I follow Mizzou sports. Good coaches but they aren't actually supposed to win the big game because they dont get the talent. Cardinals baseball. They never tanked and they barely made the playoffs a bunch of times. Actually made a few great runs but eventually the players get old and its just overpaid mediocrity. Chiefs before Mahomes I dont think ever realistically had a shot. Maybe the one year they had Montana. Chiefs did let Marty Schottenheimer walk and he did well on the Chargers and probably had 1 team that realistically had a shot but Brady and Bellichick beating you is no disrespect.

If the Steelers got rid of Tomlin I could see them bottoming out. Maybe thats the best move long-term.
