Europe. God damn Russians. Honestly though the Klitschkos are fun to watch. But that Pac fight has ruined boxing for me.

At one time Boxing was the biggest sport out their. Now the best athletes in the USA are playing Football, Basketball & to a lesser extent baseball & hockey. They have nobody too look up to in boxing & say I want to be just like him. There isn't a Mohammed Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns or Mike Tyson.

All the U.S. has is Floyd Mayweather. I can't name one potential Heavyweight champ from the U.S..

There is hope though. The Olympics will take place in a month. We'll find out who some up & comers are.

Down fall of boxing..
1. too many belts.. was the start.. WBA WBO and a few others.. Unify the belts and have everyone gun for him.. no one cares if you are the heavy weight champ of kazakastan .. but if you are the best heavy weight in the world. it would attract more attention..

2. MMA - sure there are some rules in MMA but it opened up a can of worms that probably wont ever recover... why watch some one just punch when they can watch someone punch and kick and ground ?

3. Lack of a United States threat.. when the US was dominating the sport people around the world watched.. people from other countries love to see americans in a fight.. im not being racist elitist or anything , thats just a fact.. we ourselves tune in more when there is an american with a chance..

4. picking the opponents... fighters use to take on the next challenger and go to work .. now its about the payday.. its about the undefeated record.. so they duck some fighters and hand pick opponents.. mostly americans like mayweather.. but it happen world wide.. especially in the heavyweight division..

theres my two cents..

Are you saying you can name all the other talented American Boxers out there who aren't named Floyd Mayweather and aren't Heavyweights?

Biggest blow to boxing was taking very good fights off of network television in the 1980's. While the Big Heavyweight Championship fights weren't on free tv even in the 1970's there were a lot of quality fights on ABC Wild World of Sports.

MMA has nothing to do with it because none of the UFC's best would have a prayer as a pro boxer. Otherwise they'd do it. The money is that much better.

Boxing isn't dying, it's just changing

heavy weight division has suffered because the skill in that division is gone. You used to have fighters in the low 200's with boxing skills fighting each other. Now you have two big ogres at 240+ & up just clubbing each other.

With Boxing fans being so much more intelligent about boxing they appreciate the skills Boxers has, & the Heavyweight division doesn't offer that anymore.

Watching all the smaller divisions (168lb. & down) you get to see skill, speed, power & Ko's of different kinds. the Heavy weight division you get power only.

That's my theory on why the heavyweight division has gone away. :noidea:
