Top tier:

Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Peyton manning

Next tier:

Eli manning (2 SB's), Big Ben (2 SB's),

Nxt tier:

Flacco, RG3, Ryan

Bottom of top level qb's:

Romo, Wilson, Kaepernick, Luck

That's how it is. Sheli and Big Ben won two SB's, but nobody mistakes them for top five in the league. Brady may be a product of the system, but he's won 3 SB's and been to five.

RG3 is, right now, the best of the rookies. That's why he won ROTY. Not even debateable, really.

RGIII didn't?

Could have sworn he got the shit knocked out of him because he chose to run a couple of yards instead of throwing it away, or at least running out of bounds.

Could have sworn he severely sprained his knee because he didn't slide.

Those are rookie mistakes, FYI

Those aren't typical rookie mistakes. Not compared to throwing interceptions into triple coverage. Learning to slide or run out of bounds wouldn't be something that typical QBs have to worry about. RG3 has his own learning curve.

Again:

70% of RGIII's passes were either behind the line of scrimmage or less than 10 yards thrown in the air.

RGIII has 50% of his "passing" yards accredited to YAC
Luck has 39% of his "passing" yards accredited to YAC

So your average yards per completion stat is very much skewed considering YAC is pretty much identical to his actual air yards.

Who cares? RG3 also led the league in TD passes over 40 yards. And YAC is also contingent on the QB putting the ball into a receiver's hands so that they can actually do something with the ball after they catch it.

RG3 made better decisions with the ball than any rookie, and up there with the best in the league as far as that goes.

That's a reach IMO.

As much as you're sick of the excuse making for Luck, you have to understand you're epitomizing the hyperbole most other fans are sick of when it comes to RGIII.

I don't care what other fans think of RG3. Truth is, he had a much better year than Luck. Not my fault that people have a problem with that.

Luck threw the ball 627 times compared to RGIII's 393.

70% of RGIII's passes were thrown 10 yards or less in the air or behind the line of scrimmage

58% of Luck's passes were thrown 10 yards or less in the air or behind the line of scrimmage

Luck had 354 pass attempts when trailing, which accounted for 14 of his INTs

RGII had only 197 pass attempts when trailing.

Not to mention WAS had the #1 running game in the NFL, replete with a top 5 RB. Luck... not so much.

It's easy to just throw a single stat out there without examining what's behind it. But you're kidding yourself if you think RGIII was asked to do anywhere near the amount of passing than Luck.

Why were the Colts trailing so much? Because Luck made a TON of stupid mistakes with the ball. He was often the cause of his team playing from behind. So funny you mention those stats. RG3 didn't make those kinds of mistakes to put his team in those spots.

Why is it that Washington had the #1 rushing offense again? You want to take RG3 down a notch by saying this but he was the reason why the Redskins had that ranking on the ground.

And it's always comical when you bring up what Luck was asked to do. RG3 carried this offense on his back. He's what made it go. The Redskins run the same system that the Texans do. And RG3 ran it extremely efficiently while missing two of his primary targets in the passing game for good chunks of the season.

Anything else?

...They came out and caught the league suprise but now that the league have seen these rookies and now have adjustments to them and now they have more expectation and more pressure to live up to the hype.

Yeah, 58% of defensive coordinators playing the Colts, Seahawks, and Skins this year didn't even know the other team was starting a quarterback. They thought the teams were going full on wildcat to give these rookies more time to practice.

In the future, D coordinators facing these teams will employ strategies like pass coverage, QB pressure, and tackling.

I could make a strong argument that both Luck and RG3 threw 100% of their passes behind the line of scrimmage.

Jay Cutler!! Are you kidding? The guy is a human turnover machine. Has no heart as demonstrated in the Conference Championship game againts Green Bay, and blames everyone but himself for his poor play. Man....what are you smoking?

If Cutler would of stayed in that NFC tittle game, he would been a sitting duck.

Had a back of the knee injury from a hit that swell upped as the game went along. Reason he pulled himself.

Quit listening to those idiots on ESPN who love to slam Cutler for conversation materials.

Also cut his interception down from his 1st year as a Bear when he had 26. Last three years combined is 37 picks offs.

You are all fucking loons if you dont have Matt Ryan in the top 5 or 6 QBs in the league.

1. Brady
2. Rodgers
3. Peyton
4. Brees
5. Ryan
6. Flacco
7. Eli
8. RG3
9. Wilson
10. Kaepernick
- Just missed are Big Ben, Luck, Romo, Dalton

:laugh3:
Raplisberger has more Super Bowl wins than Ryan does playoff wins. GTFO.

Wigger r*pe Ben was indeed a playoff stud. Post-r*pe Ben jury is still out. I do enjoy the Steelers in the playoffs. Never the same w/out them.

Are we ranking guys right now or are we ranking them off of their career accomplishments?? Right NOW Big Ben is not a top 10 QB. If youa re talking career achievements then he is probably a top 5 or 6.

That makes no sense.

Those are rookie mistakes for sure.

Who cares? RG3 also led the league in TD passes over 40 yards. And YAC is also contingent on the QB putting the ball into a receiver's hands so that they can actually do something with the ball after they catch it.

Who cares?

People are throwing out stats without substantiating them. If you don't care, that's one thing, but for the sake of rational and in depth football discourse, others care.

YAC may have a little to do with where the QB puts the ball, but you're fooling yourself if you don't think it mostly resides with the receiver.

RG3 made better decisions with the ball than any rookie, and up there with the best in the league as far as that goes.

That's pure opinion.

I don't care what other fans think of RG3.

This thread (and many others, I'm sure) suggests otherwise.

Truth is, he had a much better year than Luck. Not my fault that people have a problem with that.

Again, that's your opinion. And you do seem to have a problem with people that challenge it.
