Damn you, tHoopla!!!!!
It's important to not build a straw man. I didn't say Florida would run through anyone.I am genuinely curious as to why you think that. I know your schedule sets up nicely ... FSU is the only OOC team you play with a pulse, and they are barely alive. You get LSU that is basically replacing everyone - starters and coaches - at home. You play Ole Miss. And, UGa has to play Auburn and Alabama (although our OOC is very soft this year).
But, you lose a ton on both sides of the ball. Per ESPN:
A better way to measure which teams return the most production in 2020
you return 65% of your O and D, but your losses at WR and the front 7 on D are formidable.
Why so confident you are going to run through LSU, UGA, without slipping up against FSU, Ole Miss, UTjr, and then presumably Bama?
Agree on Oregon, imo them and SC IF the admin gets its act together (I like the AD hire) and they don't get nailed by the scandal stuff which I don't think they will.I'll give it to Oregon, they're finally recruiting like a national power and not a finesse team that can only beat up on the Pac12. They're building a legit team, and they're bringing in some elite players. They've cleaned up on the west coast in recruiting, and Cristobal seems to have them moving in the right direction. 2020 is probably premature, but I could easily say they're a legit contender in 2021 barring some catastrophic events.
But they have been back for the last ten years?Agree on Oregon, imo them and SC IF the admin gets its act together (I like the AD hire) and they don't get nailed by the scandal stuff which I don't think they will.
Texas and UF seem to be trending as well.
Florida should get to the playoffs, but likely won't win it all.
But they have been back for the last ten years?
I'm not trying to be an ass ... I actually like and seek out serious discussion here. It's important to not build a straw man. I didn't say Florida would run through anyone.
I appreciate your post. I think UF can go undefeated in the SEC East with the talent they have today. So the question is, if they lose the SECCG to an undefeated Alabama, would they still get in the playoffs? Maybe… They would have had to beat both LSU and UGA to get to that point. So it depends on how everyone else did.I'm not trying to be an ass ... I actually like and seek out serious discussion here.
Getting into the CFP, which is what you said, implies you have to run through everyone to get there. Even if we lose to Bama, but beat you, you aren't in the SECCG, let alone the CFP. That's why I posted that ... there is no room for error, as we found out, if you want to get in the CFP.
I do agree that your schedule couldn't line up better. LSU is going to be down ... I can't recall a national champion losing so much productivity and having such high coaching turnover. That said, they will be talented, so it will be a tough game.
I think we are being highly underrated, and I'm fine by that. We return 80% of our starting D, which was the no. 1 D in the country last year. We had 37 players on D that played 100 or more snaps. Our D is going to be filthy.
O is the big question, but I can't imagine it could worse than last year. Fromm, who I admire greatly, really digressed last year. A lot of people keep talking about our O Line, and it's true we are losing 4 really good OL, 1 of which will be top 10 draft pick, 2 in the top 2 rounds, and Mays to UTjr. But, we've been loaded at OL and everyone coming back has a lot of experience. We'll start experience OL, almost all 5* rated out of HS. While I don't think Newman will be as good as Good Jake Fromm, he will be at least as good as Bad Jake Fromm, and we got a lot of Bad Jake last year. Newman played really well at Wake last year, until his best receivers got injured. He will have way better players around him this year. And, our OC is going to be far better than Coley. That was an experiment that went horribly wrong.
As much as I hate to say it, UTjr is going to be a pushover. They've improved a lot, and Pruitt may be better than I have given him credit for. He's still a cousin humping hillbilly, but he turned that team around last year when they could have gone in the crapper.
I do believe UF will be the darling in the media, and you will be picked to win the SECE. I think I am going to like be the one chasing this year, instead of being chased. Good luck.
smfh not this againI know, but just like the playoff, same thing different year in the off season en sech..
Its just our/my (WVU) way of sneaking up on everybody. We bout to shake up the world
He's called "3rd and Grantham" for a reason. Don't forget, he was our DC for a couple years, so when we criticize and laugh a Grantham, it's not just because of how we've played against him, but because we know the frustration when he was our DC and we couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. We gave him that moniker when he was our DC. By the way, we are 4-0 against him as a DC since he left UGA, and we outscored his teams (3 coached by Mullens) 128 - 51. I hope Grantham is your DC for many years to come.Do you expect Grantham to screw up so bad again this season against Georgia? You guys converted 12 of 18, and Grantham is going to have that one circled on his calendar for sure. I don’t expect him to be embarrassed like that again.
Kind of ...Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma will be featuring new QBs...right? Anyone else of note?
OU did retain most of the staff though.
I'm well aware of his history. And I don't like him. But he does do really well sometimes. I'm hopeful that he wont be as critical this season. He's called "3rd and Grantham" for a reason. Good talk!
All this arguing and here we both agreed the entire time — Nebraska will never be a national power again, as they cannot recruit with the national powers.
Glad we have cleared all this up and we can move on
Ranking the Top 25 Players in the 2021 CFB Recruiting ClassOther than this year's bowl game vs Boise St., tell me the last time Washington was favored vs their opponent in a bowl game. They lost a close one vs Ohio St, a close one vs Penn St. and up until the 4th qtr they held their own vs Alabama in the CFP even though they were playing without arguably their two best defensive players and starting a QB with an injured shoulder (he had surgery less than two weeks after that game). Oregon's claim to fame the past few years in bowl games is a 7 - 6 win over MSU and a last minute win vs Wisconsin.
As far as Oregon owning Washington in the past four years .. Oregon beat Washington in a last minute drive vs a team that replaced 9 starters on defense. The year before Oregon won at home vs UW in OT. The year before that UW beat Oregon by a score of 38 - 3 and beat them at Oregon the year before that by a score of 70 - 21. Oregon got some high end recruits no doubt but not as many 4* recruits as UW. Depth always is a plus.
Washington is looking at its best class ever next year which should include three 5* rated recruits.

Ranking the Top 25 Players in the 2021 CFB Recruiting Class
7. J.T. Tuimoloau, DT
Currently the top-ranked defensive tackle in the nation and player in the state of Washington, J.T. Tuimoloau will be one of the hottest recruits on the West Coast. His 6'4⅓", 277-pound frame has plenty of room to go, allowing him to be a future versatile piece on the defensive line wherever he may wind up playing.
9. Emeka Egbuka, ATH
Top-tier recruits with the "athlete" designation have a rocky history, but players like Mecole Hardman have gone on to have a lot of success. Emeka Egbuka has already made a name for himself as a wide receiver and return specialist in high school, with a lot of big names including Alabama's Steve Sarkisian and Ohio State's Brian Hartline recruiting him.
14. Sam Huard, PRO QB
The son of former NFL quarterback Damon Huard, Sam is already planning on following in his dad's footsteps by playing for the Washington Huskies. The 6'2" quarterback has been committed to the Huskies since 2018, and that commitment likely won't change despite the departure of head coach Chris Petersen.
