So far my Islanders have had the following players visit L.I..
Cam Fowler
Erik Gudbransen
Ryan Johansen
Nino Niederreiter
Mikael Granlund

Brandon Gormley & Brett Connolly are expected to visit this week.

If Connolly passes his physical he then becomes part of the Isles board. This is according to Ryan Jankowski who runs the Islanders draft. Who the Isles take will depend on who goes before them. Garth Snow isn't shy from making trades on draft day. He will make a deal in order to get the player his scouts want. If I had to guess I'd say Gudbransen or Fowler will be their pick. If they're both off the board I think Snow will trade down.

I would expect a skilled forward for the Sens.

Burmistov is a possibility as is Bjugstad.

Picking in the 16 slot means there is just too much going on before my team picks. Ottawa has a pretty decent bunch of young D-men, but at 16 I think you just need to pick the player you think is best, regardless of position. After all, you can never have too many good defensemen.

That being said, after two years of seemingly targeting their blueline I think the Sens take a forward this year in the first round.

Hockey draft is way different than say the NFL draft....you can do a whole 1st, 2nd or 3rd round NFL draft....hockey...after the 1st couple picks...it's anybody's guess....

Since my boys don't have a pick until # 89.....they will draft some insignificant kid who'll ride the pine and amount to nothing.

Unless, of course, they dump Hartnell for some early picks.

It's really tough to say with Detroit. They rarely take a "consensus" pick, usually opting for some kid expecting to go a lot later than he did. I'm hoping for another Jiri Fischer, I don't think people realize how bad that loss hurt the organization. It seems we've been chasing that elusive elite, skilled, physical defenseman for the last 15 years.

easy question to answer when your team has a top 10 pick because there is alot of talk about who is going where and there are fewer teams needs that have to be considered

when youre picking 25, you wonder who will be available. I havent seen any mock drafts so all i can do is look at central scoutings list and the ISS list and based on the canucks needs go from there. depth at d, size/dirt/skill combo forward

TSN (Scott Cullen) names 3 guys who could be available for the canucks at 25

Tyler Pitlick - 6'2 centre from Minnesota ... been there done that
Beau Bennett - another US kid on the radar because he got so many points in the bchl but he doesnt have the toughness that they need
Riley Sheahan - i dont know a thing about him

I would be happy if they drafted one of the 3 monster d guys McIlrath, Petrovic or Tinordi

apparently I need to spread rep around before getting back to you. Well summarized though. Our prospect depth at defense peters out in a hurry after Connauton.

my goodness, you have a lot in common with the Leafs. It's uncanny, really.

Don't worry, Flyer fans. We can still trade down.

I hope Vladimir Tarasenko is available at the 21st pick. Seems some teams are worried he won't leave the KHL. Good hands, right winger who can score, and only 18. We need goals bad.

It would be nice to land a top end defensemen, but they will probably be gone. They won't draft an unkown gem at D until later rounds. Brandon Gormley(Moncton,QMJHL) or Mark Pysyk (Edmonton,WHL) would be a pleasant surprise at 21st. Raffy will be 39 at the end of his contract and Lids just signed his single year deal. It'll be time for a shift in the ranks pretty soon. Hopefully a couple Grand Rapids kids come up and everything keeps going smoothly.

Hopefully all goes as usual, and its a couple kids that I won't hear from for 4 years and BAM!

After the top two there's a lot of question marks. Gormley, Fowler, and Gudbranson seem to be valued as the next three, in some order or other. Tarasenko, Connolly, and Granlund are thought to be top forward talents, tho each has their own problems (Tarasenko's Russian, Connolly has injury questions, and Granlund is small). Jeff Skinner was the top goal scorer in all of juniors this year, but he's also small and not the fleetest of foot. Jack Campbell is the top goalie in the draft.

With all this, I think at least one top talent will fall in the draft, and some lucky team will be ready to snatch him.

One player I like that may fall to the second round is Dylan McIlrath. He's a huge dman in the WHL and one of the best fighters in juniors. He's not lightning fast nor is he projected to be a #1 dman, but he's been called a Milan Lucic on defense. If he's there, I'd love the Bruins to grab him in the 2nd.

Oh yeah, add Skinner to my list of guys I hope slide...

Isn't it great to have SOMETHING to look forward to since the Philly series? I thought I heard if we got Seguin we could put him on the wing anyway?

Brock Nelson
I don't know anything about him but with a name like Brock I figure he had to learn how to fight or score to stop the other kids from teasing him.

That's the rumor (and probably the only option). I have my reservations, as much of what I've heard describes him as a better center than a winger (great vision, great passing, good at finding the open areas). Bergeron started out as a winger with Boston and later moved to the middle. I guess Julien will start experimenting in September.

I'm thinking Tallon takes Gudbrannson, but I'd rather draft Connolly.
