Thanks. According to someone who was at the game he stayed on the bench during the 2nd & 3rd periods. He tried to skate for about 5 seconds & then went right back to the bench.

Portland sweeps Tri-City with a 4-1 victory tonight. The Winterhawks had 61 shots on goal this game. Back to back Western Conference championships for Portland. We'll see if they can get the WHL title this season.

Sea Dogs and Sagueneens goto OT for the 2nd straight game but this time the Sea Dogs won 3-2 to take a 3-1 series lead headed back home. Charlie Coyle had a 2 goals, including the OT winner, and assisted on the Sea Dogs other goal scored by Jonathan Huberdeau.

This Sagueneens team appears to be for real but will be in tough to win the next 3.

I'm always amused by the unique nicknames teams in the Quebec league have, though I can't say I know what a lot of them are. Also there's no point to this, but Spokane's all time record against Chicoutimi is 1-0. :D

I agree about some of the nicknames. The last team the Sea Dogs faced were called "Le Drakkar", which means " The Longship". I had to google that one. Next season Sherbrooke will have an expansion team called "Phoenix" which means "Phoenix". :L I managed to get by without googling that one. The last Q team Sherbrooke had were called known as "Les Castors" which means "Beavers".

Also in the opening round the Sagueneens played the Bathurst Titan, so people called that the Saggy Tits series.

Halifax gets destroyed by Rimouski tonight losing 9-0 and now trail 3-2 heading back home for the final 2. For some reason this semi is 2-3-2 while the other is 2-2-1-1-1. It's about the same travel so it must have something to do with arena availability. The Mooseheads have been inconsistent since sweeping the 1st round. I wouldn't count them out just yet. I'm hoping for an all Maritime final. Not because I have any loyalty to other Maritime teams but I think it would be fun to beat them and to watch the Mooseheads young talent for a series. Plus it would be fun having so many people travel to watch their team on the road. And of course road games would start an hour earlier since both Saint John and Halifax are in the forgotten atlantic time zone.

Yeah that sounds likely. Last year Spokane and Tri-City played a 2-3-2 even though the two cities are only 2 hours apart because both arenas had stuff going on at various times throughout the series.

In WHL action Edmonton beats Moose Jaw 4-1 to take the series by the same mark and make the Edmonton/Portland WHL final official. Hopefully it'll be on TV here with an American team in the finals.

Niagara beat Ottawa 3-2 in Game 5. Ryan Strome with 1 goal. Niagara wins the series 4-1.

Niagara vs London for the OHL TITLE. London starts the series with home ice advantage due to a better record during the regular season I believe.

PORTLAND vs Edmonton for Memorial Cup! Former Oil Kings playing the new Oil Kings. Seems like a win-win for Emonton, but let's hope Portland gets the W so everyone wins.

Can't happen. The WHL is not hosting the tournament this year so only 1 team from the WHL can go. I'm not sure about the WHL playoff format but maybe they will meet in the WHL finals.

Yes those teams are meeting in the WHL Championship final and the winner represents the Dub at the Memorial Cup in Shawinigan.

Go Portland!

/mainly because of Sven Baertschi...

Sea Dogs advance to the Q finals for the 3rd straight year with an OT win in game 5. This was a much closer series than your typical 5 game series. The final 3 games all went to OT. Stanislav Galiev was the OT hero in this one. He along with Charlie Coyle, and goaltender Mathieu Corbeil have been the Sea Dogs 3 stars in the playoffs so far. Not sure what has been up with Huberdeau. I wouldn't say he's been invisible but he hasn't been usual phenomenal 2-3 points per game self.

Crosby's former team beats his hometown team as Rimouski defeats Halifax 3-2 in OT for their 3rd road win of the series. The Q final is now set. It will be the Saint John Sea Dogs vs the Rimouski Oceanic. Not too sure what to expect from Rimouski in the finals.

Jonathan Huberdeau will be watching the 1st 2 games of the Q finals from the stands for this hit. Not the best video and it changes angles right at the point of contact but it seems legit. Watch #10 in white get crushed by #11 in blue. No penalty on the play so the Sea Dogs might have dodged a huge bullet there.

The unfortunate thing is that the Finals are 2-3-3 due to arena availability and most expect this to be done in 5 tops. So Huberdeau might have played the last home game of his Q career Saturday night since he's a good bet to be in the NHL next year.

I watched the video a few times and I don't think the hit by Huberdeau was all that bad. Was Hudon injured on the play, julian? I know that the CHL is extremely sensitive on these types of plays though, so I guess I'm not surprised that he was suspended for two games.

Yeah he left the game after that and never came back. This was right after the opening face-off so basically he missed the entire game. Rumour is he had a concussion. The part that might not be clear from this video is that Hudon never had the puck. I was late arriving to the game myself so I never actually got to see it live.
