In that case you might be interested to know that he actually asked for the Quebec fans to boo McKinnon every time he touched the puck. I have never ever heard of a coach or even player asking the fans to boo a player. Usually it just happens on its own, which gives it way more meaning. Pretty classy of a guy in his late 40s to ask 14,000 people to boo a 16 year old. :L

Roy is a piece of shit, and he always has been

You got your wish. Jonathan Drouin scores the OT winner. The road teams were 3-0 in game 7's tonight. Halifax will now play Rimouski and Saint John will play Chicoutimi.

Well in a shocking development the Memorial Cup host Shawinigan Cataractes have been elminated after falling in game 7 to Chicoutimi. Not sure how I feel about this. I thought they were the only team in the Q that stood a chance against the Sea Dogs but now they will be home resting, practising, but most importantly getting/staying healthy for the next month while they wait for 3 teams to win their respective leagues.

Halifax and Quebec are in game 7 OT, tied 4-4. Halifax's undrafted 20 year old captain obviously does not want this to be the last game of his junior career and is having the game of his life. He has all 4 Mooseheads' goals.

Well on the bright side Shawinigan will still get to host the Memorial Cup. If this was 20+ years ago that may not have been the case.

Honestly, I don't think that long of a time off is an asset for the Memorial Cup.
the tournament is so short, and each game is so important, that it would be so very tough to go from a month of practice mode to balls-to-the-wall do or die playoffs. Unless the other teams are decimated on the way through, I think that's going to be a rough tourney for Shawinigan.

I agree. We saw that in 2009 when Rimouski hosted. They got knocked out early (I believe it was also in the 2nd round) and they never really got it going in the tournament getting eliminated in the tie-breaker. They looked particularly awful in their first game against Kelowna. The Rockets whipped them good.

I think and hope that you are right.

The Chiefs drop a tough one tonight 3-2 to Tri-City in game 7. Tri-City tied the game with 5:22 to go in the third and then scored the winner 1:04 later. The Chiefs had a couple chances to tie late but couldn't get the puck in the net. Proud of how they battled and the fact they were able to go toe to toe with Tri-City bodes very well for next season. One thing to look for Spokane to improve on, in this series Spokane had the lead on 9 separate occasions and lost the lead every single time. The Chiefs had the lead 5 different times in games 5 and 7 in the Tri-Cities, hold any one of those and they win the series. But it will be a great learning experience for the guys, particularly the young defensemen and hopefully they keep the memory of this loss burning in them over the offseason and come back to play with a purpose next season. Even though the Chiefs were down a little this year, it was a hell of a fun ride and I'm glad I got to enjoy it as long as it lasted. So much better than watching the Sharks. :L

In the other WHL game 7, Portland avoids the ultimate choke, winning 2-0. Portland and Tri-City will play for the western conference. Should be a good one.

Sorry to hear that John, still a successful season for the Chiefs and definitely something to build on for next season.

Both series in the WHL started tonight. Edmonton crushed Moose Jaw 6-1, while Portland beat Tri-City 5-4 in OT. The Americans were outshooting Portland 7-0 in OT before the Winterhawks got their first SOG which ended up being the game winner. I'm curious to see how long Tri-City can hold up in this series. I know in the series against Spokane, their top 6 players got a TON of ice time. I don't think it was a coincidence at all that Spokane (which consistently rolled 4 lines in the playoffs) won all 3 of the overtime games in that series. We'll see, but I get the feeling the Ams players way very well be burnt out.

Niagara beat Ottawa 2-1 in OT last night.

Petr Mrazek (Red Wings) & Mark Visentin (Coyotes) were outstanding. Niagara outshot Ottawa 51-43.

Mitchell Theoret scored the game winner off a rebound in front of the net.

That Edmonton - Moose Jaw result surprises me, I don't think Edmonton is that great, and I know how good the Warriors have been playing.

Sea Dogs beat Chicoutimi 4-1 to also make ther playoff record 9-0. Here are some highlights from that one. If any Wings fans are looking for Jurco, he left the game early with a minor injury.

In the other semi, Rimouski wins the opener 4-1 on the road.

Portland takes a 2-0 series lead with another 5-4 OT win over Tri-City. Rattie looks to be fully recovered as he had a hat trick tonight including the short-handed OT winner.

The series resumes on Wednesday in Portland. Game 2 between Edmonton and Moose Jaw is tomorrow night.

Portland probably wins game 3, then loses 3 straight before taking Game 7.

Heh, maybe if they played Kamloops again. Tri-City overplays their top players and I think it's really showing. Listening to the Winterhawks post game, they're surmising that Holland and Shinnimin both played about 35 minutes for the Americans tonight, which is absolutely absurd. And it's not like this is a one game thing, the Americans coach plays them that much every single game. It's too much and the Americans are wearing down. If all things were even and the Winterhawks and Americans played to start the playoffs I think the series would go 7. But with the way things are now, I think Portland wins this in 5, maybe even in a sweep.

I'm hoping to get tickets to a game in this series, hopefully I plan it out to where I get the game that seals the series and get to see the Hawks celebrate another WCF championship.

I do think Portland should win the Memorial Cup this year though.

They've got the talent to win it for sure.

In the other WHL series, Edmonton blasts Moose Jaw again by a score of 6-1 to take a 2-0 series lead. Looks like I may have underestimated the Oil Kings. 10-0 so far in the playoffs. Dating back to the regular season, Edmonton has won 21 games in a row.
