Tyler Clippard Reportedly to Be Traded to Astros from White Sox

Only took him on as a salary dump for the Yanks. I'd imagine the White Sox front office jumped at the chance to get him off of the books as well. He doesn't serve much of a purpose on a rebuilding team.

Not exactly moving the needle for Houston, but it's something...

Hard to imagine that we got anything for him. Maybe a throw-in type prospect.

I'm sure that will satisfy the disgruntled Astros players.

Clippard is a decent pickup but does it make them the AL favorites over Boston? I don't know.

they were probably favorites over them to begin with. Regardless, Clippard doesn't really change anything. He sucks.

Clippard had a very bad first half. However, his career numbers are quite good. Looking at the few years prior to this one, he's been pretty dependable. Small sample size, but he pitched great over 10 innings for the White Sox.

I agree, he doesn't move the needle for Houston much. However, he could certainly be a help.

He will be just fine with the Astros. They are in contention and that usually helps a player of his caliber

Houston is just deepening the bullpen rather than add another SP.

It's interesting as we say that CLE was really one RP away from making it work last year.

They were up 3-1 in the World Series.

It's really on nobody outside of the clubhouse that they didn't finish it. They obviously had the talent.

I meant their top guys all ran out of gas in game 7.

Kluber, Miller, Allen and especially Shaw were not good.

Although Shaw's was probably more a lack of intelligence and baseball IQ. Maybe try something else besides the 43rd cutter in a row...

I understand, but I think the idea of a 3-1 lead, is that you don't let it get to Game 7. That's where the "no excuse" part comes in. I mean, Cubs were gassed too as we all saw. That's kind of just the nature of a WS game 7.

Well they also only had 3 healthy starters.

Not the GMs fault since those happened after the TD.

Really we're talking about the Indians being half an inch away from having Carrasco and thus the world champions.
