I understand that too.

It is just that duo doesn’t have a whole lot of value. You might get an aging star like Lowry for them if Toronto wants to move on and get younger.

But I don’t care how many 1sts and swaps you add to those 2 players you aren’t getting there.

It is a non-starter when the picks are all expected to be near 30 for the foreseeable future. And you best believe AD, LeBron and Dame would have the Lakers picking near 30.

Which is pretty much everything I've been saying.

Schroder and Kuzma don't get them there, any picks that have are going to be in the 20's or higher, and even if they were to add say THT and KCP, it's not enough because with what? 4 years left on his deal?...Dame can't even say "I won't re-sign anywhere but the Lakers" like AD did because teams will just say "Cool, we'll worry about it in 4 years".

I highly doubt that as well, but on my local news. I just saw the dude who does sports going all googly cuz the Lakers are 1 of 4 teams Lilliard listed as teams he wants to be traded to.

lol

Dame can make them the only team on his list and it won't matter because he has zero leverage.

I’m seeing that they have $25 million in cap space. That would be the range of a Lowry John Collins DeRozan Drummond based on who is available in FA. Not sure that Dame Randle plus one of above is better constructed than Dame McCollum Nurkic. But it is in the East. Maybe that would be appealing to him.

Oh, if they only have $25 million, then yeah, that wouldn't be better than what he has now other than it being in the East. so he'd at least get out of the first round. I thought they were looking at having enough to sign an actual star.

Right.

But the thing is, some of your Laker homers on here (not going to name names) really would believe that the Lakers are a realistic trade destination for Dame.

Best to not make them think there is any legit hope.

Word. Its just funny though watching some Lakers fans getting woodies over the mere thought.

Oh, it's a fun thought. As a Lakers fan, when I heard they were on his list...it moved a little. lol

I saw an article about how the Lakers could get him, thought "Oh cool" and started reading it...then I got to the part where they mentioned that he has 4 years left on his contract and I just stopped reading.

Seems like Portland would be better off just dealing with the Sixers and getting Simmons, another player and a pick or 2. I don't think Dray works anywhere outside of GSW. Wiseman looks like he'll be pretty good, but I doubt he'll be good enough to justify giving up Dame.
And as mentioned, Dray + Wiseman is both not nearly enough and not something GS would do.

Not to mention, GS would be getting a more valuable return for Dray and Wiseman than Portland would be getting for Lillard.

That doesn’t make any sense at all.

They should try to use cj to the sixers in a deal for Harris instead

Just surprised that Philly isn't considered an option. They're one of the most likely willing to shake things up with a valuable piece to trade.

There is no might DJ.

It is a non-starter.

Lakers aren’t getting Lillard this season unless they are trading AD.
If they wanted to build a team for the future instead of the past, they'd trade LeBron straight up for Lillard (give or take some picks), but the national media wouldn't ever let them get away with that.

I could see why the Lakers might consider that...but why would the Blazers? If you they were somehow adding Lebron to Dame, CJ and Nurk, they could win a title.

But Lebron by himself? At 36? Added to Nurk and CJ?

Philly.

Like I said in that Simmons trade thread towards the start, a Lillard/Simmons deal works out salary-wise as is so you're not gonna have to tinker with it much at all and its probably the best deal Portland could get returning value. Simmons, Maxey, couple of picks and a couple pick swaps. You're getting an all star back for Dame that's still young. It'll be difficult to find that in any other trade scenario.

Seems the most logical place if he in fact does not stick around.
