Cowboy fans sure are defensive of a guy that is barely a top 15 qb in this league. Hell Romo was a better qb than Dak is. Right now off the top of my head I would take Brady (30 year old Brady test. Today's Brady NO), Darnold (No), Mayfield (No), Roethlisberger (Too Old so No), Jackson (Yes), Mahomes (Yes), Rivers (No), Watson (No), Wentz (Clipboard), Cousins (No), Rodgers (Younger yes, but no spring chicken and The Prima Donna of QBs), Garopalo (No more than a wash, so what's the difference), Brees (Too Old so No) , and Ryan (Yes, but age is a big concern) over Dak.

I think the same for Dak as before, offer him a 18mil a year contract, if he doesn’t take it move on to the next rookie. Dak will never win you a SB so why pay him big money.
18 per year? JSTFU, Before this season he should have gotten 25M per, he has raised that bar without question.

Prescott is another Captain Kirk all over again. He’ll be tagged. You can’t pay him 40 mil per, but you really don’t want to let him go without a backup plan.

I agree he's not worth 40M, I'm not even sold on 35M but that does seem to be the going rate for QBs and I do think Dak has earned Franchise QB money.
When the whole Cousins saga played out I was saying the Skins needed to sign him, but they jerked him around by a chain and just made matters worse.

If Dallas is thinking about going down this same route I'd rather they just 1st round tender him and, let him test the market, and if he signs elsewhere go with the draft and bring in a vet to start on 2020.

Cousins played the Franchise tag perfectly, Dak could should take a page from that book.

5 years ago we talked about non-elite QBs not being worth $20M, 3 years ago it was not worth $25M, 5 years from now it will be not worth $45M. Contracts are mostly about timing, timing, timing...the horse is out of the barn at this point. You either sign your QB or draft a new one

I'm having a little trouble comprehending why Viking fans are starting threads about other teams QBs. Granted, Kirk is finally playing well and earning his contract in the 3rd year of it, but that is in no small part due to having a healthy Dalvin Cook and a better O.C. It just seems silly to talk of QBs you obviously know very little about.

Dak will have a new HC next year... With that said, Jason Garrett will be the Browns HC in 2020... You heard it here first...

No to Mayfield, Jimmy G and Rivers.

I'd take Allen, Staff and have to think about Goff. Darnold Id slot below Dak, but he isn't looking at a monster deal either. And you left out Wilson, who I'd take over every other player in football.

As far as being a "franchise" QB, all names mentioned are. You have a "franchise QB" and he was a backup a few months ago. Not a term that really holds water. 2/3's of starring QBs are or will be, all it takes is being an option for a second contract as a starter.

in the free market, Dak would garner $35-$40 mill per year. I think the cowboys are going to tag him next year though.

So based on your statement I assume you'd like to change your stance after seeing the actual numbers?

Personally I think anyone that goes by stats alone doesn't understand Football, but you brought it up...
There are numbers, Im gonna assume you've chosen to ignore them.

I'll give you guys credit, you're a determined bunch. Enjoy a mediocre QB with an Elite price tag. I know I have for 11 years.

If you want 9 or 10 wins every year pay him what you want.

too funny
Dak was 32-15 his first three years and it was all about the lack of passing yards....now he leads the league in passing yards so he's not a winner. :noidea:
The Cowboys are 6-6 in a weak division. Enough said.
