I agree. I never saw them play. But they were both absolutely dominant players for their era.

I saw "old Oscar" and the "Dennis Rodman version of Wilt." Not Dennis Rodman in the sense that he had crazy hair or wore dresses, lol.

But by the time I saw Wilt, he was all about rebounding and defense and was no longer the dominant offensive player he had been in Philadelphia. He probably still could have been, but the Lakers had plenty of guys who could score, so he changed his game.

even though there were better defensive centers than kareem, like wilt, kareem still had far more impact defensively, than any #2 guard. centers can clog the middle. kareem is the leading scorer in nba history. the sky hook was by far the the most unstoppable shot ever.

Yeah what @Wamu said. Kareem wasn't a BETTER scorer, he just scored more points because he played a million more games.

which makes them even more incredible. imagine if they had the benefit of modern training techniques.

fyi-there were only 10-12 teams back in the 60's, not nearly as watered down as today.

Fewer teams, but the talent on those teams was about D-League level today, except for a few guys (who are rightly remembered as great)

Take into consideration that MJ retired twice. The 1st time had he averaged even 30 ppg for the '94 & '95 seasons (playing 78) he finishes w/ 36,515 points. Then he returned again & would have had 3 season to score less than 2,000 points to set the all time mark. No question he would have done that. MJ @ 39 averaged 20.0. KAJ averaged 17.5.

Case and point.

Damn fool right here for you @Mecca
Dude is just a LeBron Troll.

Who knows, maybe he's like Wiggy and can have a logical debate outside of his obsession with James.

Sadly, I can't recall a time when he's ever talked about anything else....lol

Bro, Kareem played 2 decades.

So, it's not surprising he has the most points in NBA history.

I personally have Kareem ahead of LeBron RIGHT NOW.

But, if LeBron gets that record?

The Captain drops to 3rd and LeBron slides in behind MJ.

I have KAJ @ # 3. But I think he's the most underappreciated superstar ever.

right, jordan gets smoked, so it don't count.

career fg% kareem .558, jordan .497

interesting that even though kareem attempted 4000 more fg's than jordan, jordan still made 500 more points from the free throw line.

Wow. Just wow.

He is.

He also brought a ton of that on himself because he was so unlikable.

It could be that people were threatened by his intelligence.

But, it could also be that he was a unapproachable, elitist douche bag....lol

It's interesting to see him try to repair his image, or at least change the narrative, in his 70's.

Yeah I've heard the same things about him. But if you're that damn good @ something I think alotta people would be a bit arrogant.

It's weird with Kareem. He was definitely aloof and could be pretty short with the media.

The old Showtime Lakers all seem to absolutely love the guy. But even then, it took Magic to bring him out of his shell.

Pretty introverted...but had bit parts in a couple of movies?

Dude's something of an enigma to say the least.

My guess is that the image repair is him looking back on his life and realizing he made some mistakes and pissed some people off.

Remember his HOF speech? It was brutal.

I lost a lot of respect for him when he did that shit. I mean, it's not good enough that most people, including all time great former players consider you the GOAT. Even guys who are right there with you in that discussion.

You have to drag out decades old bullshit and try to embarrass people at a ceremony to celebrate how great you were?

Do you know what this is all about? Go back to comment # 577. desertrat said KAJ was a better scorer than MJ. I disagreed.

That cemented my hate for him but I respect what he did during his career.
