He facilitates the offense, but not by dominating the ball. One of the things he's best at is getting and keeping the ball moving. Many of his passes are of the "hockey assist" variety where he passes the ball to a guy with a better passing angle for the assist.

There was a stat I saw where it showed he is one of the quickest at getting the ball out of his hands. When the Lakers offense is at it's best, the ball is moving among everyone on the court.

He's not "score first" (thank God lol), but he's also not one of those pg's that needs to be the one to make the pass that gets the assist.

So, while he obviously needs to touch the ball, he doesn't need to dominate the ball like some pg's.

Not gonna convince him.....LOL.

but what is he doing when he doesnt have the ball? like tristan thompson is screening and rolling to the basket, like Kyle korver is sitting in the corner or running around back picks etc., like Dwayne WAde when he played with LeBron would be cutting to the basket all the time.

When you have a guy that is not a threat to hit an outside shot, and also is weak at finishing in traffic at the basket like Ball you have a dilemma on your hands. Rondo cant shoot an outside shot worth dick- awful at it- but he can and excels at driving to the hoop and either finishing or kicking it out. His shooting percentage was so high some years despite his terrible shooting because he is GREAT at finsihing at the basket. Kyrie Irving is one of the ebst offensive players in the game beause he has it all- the outside shot, and he can finish at the basket better than almost any guard i have ever seen.

When Lonzo is in a pick and roll a defender doesnt have to play him as a shooter or a driver. He has a lot of early-Ricky-Rubio in him in that regard though Rubio was probably the better athlete.

As i have said- i still think Ball prob. goes no later than top 8 if his draft was redone today- maybe/probably even a little bit higher- but when you have a guy that is both a bad shooter, and a guy that is a weak finisher at the basket- why even have a defender near him? Like a guy like early Kemba Waker- someone i think Sexton compares to favorably- esp. before Walker straightneed out his shot---- and Rondo--- those guys could collapse a defense since they were so great at getting that first step and finishing at the rim- by beating their defender and then finishing over a rotatiing big. Ball is not good at that. He does not have that first step like a Kemba or a Rondo or what i think a Sexton will have.

if he is just going to swing the ball on the outside why not have a guy like that who can actually shoot it if he gets an open shot? I mean Kendrick Perkins can swing the basketball.

I mean- I think Ball is kind of a Ricky Rubio-ish player at heart. With not quite the flair, but a little bit bigger and sturdier.

I guess if i see a point guard that cannot collapse a defense by having that lightning quick first step like a John Wall--- or if a point guard cant shoot the 3 like a Damian Lilalrd--- if he is poor at both those things---- cant shoot and doesnt have that lightning quick first step and the ability to finish over a rotating big....what exactly is he doing in the modern NBA?

its why i really like Sexton--- he has that lightning quick first step and can collapse a defense. His 3pt shooting was i think 34% so he needs to improve that--- but in the more wide open NBA game and the fact that he was practically the only threat at Alabama (since he didnt go to a big time basketball school), should play towards his shooting being a little better in the NBA and since he doesnt havea per se "broken shot" like a Fultz or Ball, i can see him eventually becoming a solid 3 pt shooter 3-4-5 years down the line once the game slows down and he is able to focus on that part of hsi game rather than adjusting to the pace of the NBA and everything that goes with it--- maybe even once the game slows down for Ball and he is able to stay healthy and in the lineup 3-5 years from now he can do what a Kemba did and get, if not a good shot like Kemba, at least a shot that makes the defenders cover him.

I just get scared when i see a point guard that cant shoot, and lacks that lightning quick first step and ability to finish. How many guys have we seen like that actually have long term success?

Rajon Rondo has had a pretty good shot, despite not having an outside shot.

Better defender, passer, and rebounder.

for the record I agree with the rebounding. Passing seems rather similar with Rubio having a slight edge, and defense seems pretty even to me as well. Nobody has the passing acumen and grace of Rubio outside of maybe LeBron in the current day. Rubio just makes beautiful passes.

I think both players are extremely similar in a lot of regards. I think Rubio is probably the more slick passer and a little bit better athlete- a little bit better at running the break while Ball has the size and frame to be a better rebounder, and maybe even a decent post up player as a point guard down the line kind of like Kidd eventually transformed into it.

I do feel bad for the Lakers fanbase. You guys have some of the most retarded ESPN writers in your area - Shelburne and Plaschke.

I don't mind Shelburne too much (mainly because I don't rally pay much attention to her),

Plaschke's such a dumbass, he makes my head hurt.

This is a lot of words. You should have just said you don't understand. Would have saved me some time.

to be honest i dont think you Lakers fans will have to worry about Lonzo much longer anyway.....

You may very well be right. I heard today, that the Lakers were gauging interest.

It was Plaschke who said it, so it has to be taken with a large grain of salt though.
