I like large mouth bass fishing but haven't done it in years. Now I just tag along with a friend who likes to catfish at night.

I never read it, i was fishing and a DNR agent saw me release one, he said don't release it, kill it and toss it in the woods. He said they have completely wiped out the game fish in this lake. ( florence area). And some locals also told me you are never supposed to put them back alive. It was my first time fishing in SC.

Well if it was a lake in FLorence, it has to be a smaller one, so I guess I could see where gar could take over. My other assumption would be, knowing Flotown, that the dnr agent was a good ol boy and not of the same caliber of agent that they are turning out now.

I'm fishing for rock bass and fall fish lately, as that's what's in the creek by my house and it means I don't have to buy a license. My Dad caught a 22" sucker out of there that fed our family of 7 for a meal, but they don't often bite as they are bottom feeders. There's some pretty large ones in there though. I hear they bite more in the fall. Mostly just worms and corn on a small hook.

Mainly largemouth bass, but if they ain't biting then it's bream, sac-a-lait, catfish etc...

Live less than an hour away from the 'Spillway' as the Atchafalaya Basin is known here so that's my favorite spot.

Will head further south into brackish waters and even into the gulf if water conditions are just right but my bass boat rides way to low to deal with overly choppy water.
