When is the trade deadline?

rangers should be active this deadline I’d expect.

Im hoping for a future oriented trade.

Then a few trades of guys like Matt Moore, Martin Perez and Calhoun/Richards to “restock” the farm from the losses we take in the big trade

I'd like to see Texas trade off Miller, Culbertson and Calhoun for whatever they can get, and MAYBE, if the right deal is there, try to acquire a young, talented starting pitcher with at least three years of team control.

What do you have in mind as far as a future oriented trade?
I agree with you in general.

If the Front Office thinks they need to add pitching I hope they wait until the offseason to acquire one in free agency.

Crazy situation re Trout and who knows if anyone picks up Gallo. They may DFA and he get picked up that route.
Seems like the Halos are feeling like us. Teams have inquired about Ohtani. Prom or so much Trout. Crazy

Hypothetical:

If you could pick one for the Rangers to go after in FA, who would you pick: Shohei Ohtani (2024) or Juan Soto (2025)?

figure that the Angels owner will overpay for Ohtani before he hits FA and the Dodger will outbid any other team for Soto

Our old pal, Danny Santana, has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox.

I would agree with just signing a FA SP this off-season but the crop looks thin and the prices, very high. IMO, could be wrong..

I wouldn’t mind trading for a guy like Zac Gallen or Tarik Skubal.

I would also prefer to sign Perez to an extension before the deadline. If he doesn’t, trade him. But prefer to extend him.

1. Gray
2. Perez
3. Gallen/Skubal
4. Dunning
5. ?? Otto, Hearn, White, Rocker? Ragans?

I think there’s room for resigning Perez and trading for a SP too.. with the way pitchers get injured and Dunning seemingly on the brink all the time.. doesn’t hurt to have enough.. I’d rather manage from an abundance rather than a deficit.

We should have traded him during the 2019-20 off-season off of that higher than expected season lol
