Winnipeg is mentioned here. Here's the rant:

They're wiping the record book? That's not cool. Just pretending their players never did a thing until they put on their jerseys? Or maybe they'll take away all the numbers put up by former Jets. Weird.

They can't actually wipe the record book, but they're pretending as if they did. There was a huge deal earlier this year about the "first goal" and such. :sly:

I REALLY hate the Peg fans. Talk about obnoxious. They were catcalling Fleury before the game started, then after his one goal to make it 1-1 (allowable, maybe), then did it when Malkin took a penalty when the Jets were down 2-1. And they're still doing it...down 4-1. They've also boo'd Malkin all night. I'm okay with booing occasionally if there's some underlying reason (player cheapshotted someone in previous game/season, player said something about city/team/player, player left your team controversially w/i 1 season after which it's lame), but seriously? Booing a guy because he's talented and in your building? Just like booing Sid/OV is stupid, this is stupid.

EDIT: I realize now that "hate" is a strong word...but they're really freaking annoying. I'm sure it's helped their team in the past, but geez they're so Montrealian.

Yeah, they've been doing the same thing to OV both times the Caps traveled there this year. Just booing him every time he has the puck - start to finish. It's kind of hilarious on the PP when OV one times the puck to someone and there is a short burst of "booooo." But I just don't get it. I'm not a "boo"er at games anyway. I find it really obnoxious/senseless.

OV has sucked this year anyway, so what are you booing? If anyone is going to boo him, it should be US!! ;)

Hahah, I went to the Pens/Hawks game and Pens fans were doing that short booing for Hossa, I was so pissed at them. Just obnoxious. But that has a *small* reason I suppose...the guy did sort of backhand the team when he left...didn't owe us anything, but his comments were a little rude, but IMO the Cup was enough of a come back. Anyway, the whole time I was sitting there as they boo'd Geno saying "So...you're just booing a guy because he's talented? Sorry no one on your team is near his level...jokes."

I'm in the same boat about Hossa. The city had revenge - move on. You do make a good point that there's at least a reason behind it. If Hossa was ever an UFA again, I don't think that we'd here people begging for him back. Hell, there was no begging for Jagr back. The story there was that it was on him to fix his image. If Geno or OV ever become UFAs, you can bet your ass that the Peg fans would be on their knees for a chance to sign them.

Yeah, that at least has a reason. You had a good list and I'd add "rivals" to the reasons as well. And while I dislike "booing," there is nothing more fun than slow chanting an opposing goalies two-syllable name when they are having a bad night. "Hex....tall......Hex....tall....."

Caps do a "whoop whoop whoop" chant for former Caps' defenseman. It was originally for Larry Murphy. But now they do it for Sergei Gonchar, which is kinda dumb b/c he was part of the pre-lockout fire sale, but I think it's partly just b/c it's kind of original and fun.

Oh, I have nothing against chanting the goalies. It's great when the goalie, especially a typically great one, is having an off night. But sheesh, Fleury was a big part of that win! I'm sure Peg residents are smart hockey people...and in my opinion, booing players RARELY demotivates them, ESPECIALLY if you do it before they do anything wrong. If they take a penalty, or turn the puck over, maybe give them some slack for it, but if they score and you chant about them...not exactly gonna bring them down.

I've been one of those chanting idiots before, which is why I try to not come down too hard. I started the chant "Let's Go Golfing" during a "Let's Go Thrashers" chant when the Penguins played the in Atlanta at the end of last season. I felt kind of bad since they moved right after.

I actually prefer booing a specific player instead of the whole other team. If you try to boo anyone just because they aren't on your team, you look like a bitch. If they do something offense to you or your team, I'm fine with it. I've never been down with the goalie chants though. Not my cup o' tea.
