Seahawks going to piss away their draft capitol on marginal crap players like this one? Such a JS kind of signing.
Well it could of been worst like signing someone like Stephon Diggs for serious money.

Yeah, I could also justify the Jones signing as a prove it deal for someone with potential - but Valdes-Scantling is a #3-#4 and that's a bunch of money for a guy who hasn't ever had a year of 700 yards and will be 31.

Just based on name value I'd guess he goes for a lot more.

Valdes did pretty good last year for 8 games. 400 yards and 4 TDs? With Derek Carr (Buff never used him)? I don't get why you guys hate this signing. He's a downfield threat and while he isn't going to replace DK in full, he's better than Bobo.

We needed a vertical threat WR (his average is 17+ yards career)... that is not Bobo (who can't get separation) and Young has never done anything. We already have Cooper Kupp. His name starts with J. Also, given Valdes had a good year while he was on the field last year (before the Saints got ravaged by injury) - he'll translate with zero issue to Kubiak's system. There's zero transition. He's a day 1 #2 on certain packages.

For 1 year $5.5M... lol.

The Seahawks will be his 5th team. He's a deep threat but not much of one. And he isn't very good as an actual receiver.

Honestly, we need the depth at WR, but I don't think $5.5 million is the number I'd give him. He played 14 games (started 8) last year and we more than doubled his salary from last year for less than 30 yards per game. and a 43% completion percentage when being thrown to.

Eh, we gotta have some sort of downfield threat... he's a distraction if anything. And he did pretty good in Kubiak's system with a lesser QB and offensive team in general (due to all the injuries). It's fine for a 1 year rental.

He's 30, 5th team, injury prone, this is what he's done last 3 years:

I guess you can say the Seahawks paid a bit more because it's a one year then get lost contract, JS loves those kind of deals. The problem is you sign a few of those and poof your cap space ends up going away without any appreciable value being added.

Need to see the contract because "up to 5.5 million" is pretty vague.

I just look at him as a guy that can stretch the field. Kubiak isn't an OC that needs a ton of WR help... but you do need a deep threat once in a while, especially if we're going to be a run first team.

It's up to $5.5M.. we have still like $45M+ of cap... I get Kupp is a nice choice, but Kupp wasn't released before this signing and Kupp is the same player we have in JSN.

Also, after going back to Kubiak's offense with Carr of all people and a destroyed Saints offense, he had a heck of a performance 2nd half of the season. And he's familiar with Kubiak's system and did pretty damn good in it. That helps especially since he'll be working with a new QB. We're buying low for a player coming off a high. That's fine.

I am in NO WAY saying this replaces DK... but 8 games 400 yards 4 TDs... in 15 games DK did about the same (if not less). It's 1 year $5M vs. 5 years $150M and a 2nd round pick... lol, I'll take it. Zero risk, SOME upside, and something we just don't have at the moment (deep threat) since trading DK.

I'm not giving this some A+ OMFG grade, but for the money and 1 year commit + ending the season strong and knowing our new OC... it's a B+ or so.. I'm having a bigger problem Schneider hasn't addressed the OL at all outside of Josh Jones..

I didn't even know he was still playing. This offseason is getting worse and worse.

Yeah, not sure what’s going on with this one. Will have to see a breakdown, but looks like a massive overpay for a player who hasn’t been relevant in years

It is just surreal to me that Schneider is just so obstinate about not building the interior of the OL.

He hasn't had double digit sacks since 2018. Is Schneider just mocking us at this point?

Lawrence isn't horrible for the amount, but he's 33... (or going to be). We have Reed, Big Cat, and Lawrence, all getting way up there. $18M guaranteed for Lawrence so it's really a 2 year deal...

What still blows my mind is the complete ignore of signing OL. Absolutely baffling to me.

That said, I guess end of day in 2026 we're gonna have ridiculous cap room. Schneider is only signing short term commits.
