You guys are probably sick of me saying this but like RB , I like the WR depth we have... We just need that "dog" at WR. The do it all WR.. My take on WR is this.

We just need that guy who can either be better then Sutton making him our true #2 or at least a guy where we can say Sutton and (FILL IN BLANK) are WR's 1A, 1B.. 2A, 2B. Someone who is better then Sutton making him our true #2 (because that makes our team better) or someone who we can at least say.. "Not sure who our #1 is but our #1 and #2 give us a #1 together..

Because we have the other guys that we need at WR to round out a good core.
What type of sophomore campaign do you anticipate Vele having? He certainly showed plus talent in his freshman run. I’m hoping he makes a big leap forward and puts his name in the hat.

I think Vele is fine. I don't think his upside is huge but I think what he gave us last year is what he is and can only get better in an expanded role. We saw what he can do last year and to me it all just depends on how much we will depend on him to do what he did last year.
I am just curious what kind of role we have and how we fit him into the mix.

Definitely want to see a running back or DL in round one. BPA between the two. I think Vele is our new Tim Patrick. I do believe the Broncos will add another receiver in the draft. I feel pretty good about our wide receiver room overall with Sutton, Mimms, Vele, Sherfield and Franklin. Franklin could develop into a stud for us. We'll see.

I think they are still a piece away in the WR room. They need at worst a true WR 2 and in reality a WR 1 that they are training for the future. This could be the last year Sutton is a Denver Bronco. And behind him is no one that has shown anything close to being someone our QB can trust on a regular basis. I get that they can develop but when we drafted them I thought they all but Mims had a pretty limited scope of what they are good at.

It is why for me WR is not off the board when it comes to the 1st or 2nd round.

I don't disagree with this take but was merely suggesting that the Broncos WR room is not as empty as some in the national media portray. Good point about needing a Sutton replacement to develop soon. I'm convinced that they will take at least on WR in the draft and free agency isn't over yet. I just don't want them to bring one in with their first selection.

I definitely get that. My issue right now is I have McMillan somewhere in the 10-12 range when it comes to my own personal big board. So the idea of getting him at 20 especially when his body type and play style is exactly what Payton loves would be hard for me to pass up. Some would depend who else is there but other than Jeanty at the RB position and Warren/Loveland at the TE position I can't see another offensive option that I would be happy with. He would be my 4th choice. Now defensively I've got another group of names with Hunter, Carter, Graham, Jahdae Barron, Williams, and Nolan. McMillan would be after that grouping of offensive and defensive prospects.

Would you draft Tom Nalen at 20?

Nothing wrong with using a RD 1 pick on a solid WR2. Obviously, in a smart fashion depending on your teams makeup and the value of where you are picking in the draft.

This is a pass happy league!

Today is a one round mock from Mel Kiper. He had us taking Jeanty in January, Loveland in February - now those two are gone before our pick so he has us taking someone different:

Tetairoa McMillan, WR, AZ

What say you to a 6’4”, 220 pound Potential #1 WR?
yea please. we can find a RB in the next couple rounds who’s skill set is similar unless Jeanty falls

This discussion got me thinking - have the Broncos ever had an all time great at WR? Rod and DT probably the best two - and neither are HOF players like we’ve had at QB, RB, TE, OT, CB, and S.

rod has the HOF numbers if Irvin does

but DT was the best i’ve seen play since 1995. a primary reason why PFM choose Denver that and a crappy AFCW

Haven Moses was a great from the past
