How much more do they need?

They need a backup point guard. I love McConnell but he is not a 20-25 minute player on a title contending team.

I'm guessing that the Sixers are done until the buyout market.
I love when teams aren't afraid to push in their chips and go after the Warriors. Gotta think they are slight favorites to make the Finals now.

Houston did the same thing last year and came within a hair of pulling it off. And Philly showed the other day they ain't scared of ''em

If the Sixers can stay healthy and get a couple of meaningful backups from the buyout market, they could make a serious run with this squad

Hawk this is a good deal. Its time to solidify the nucleus and address weaknesses. I say props for having the guts to make a move.

Sixers are the very least a paper tiger. And it could be they turn paper into reality.

Good stuff. Raptors/Sixers/Pacers and Celtics gonna be some dog fights

Depth is over-rated in the playoffs. You get so many nights off and stars play longer minutes regardless.

The 76ers have the best starting five in the East, and maybe the 2nd best behind Golden State now.

The bench can be addressed to a certain degree with buyout pickups, but it was a solid move.

The future is now. Try and win.

Boston is the team who keeps stockpiling future assets and seems afraid to try and win.

I think both Toronto and now Philly have past the Celtics by....because of being fearless about the future.

This is the strongest the east has been in as long as I can remember.

I think Boban/Scott wash out Chandler/Muscala with their role-player skills.
This comes down to Bird rights on Harris for Shamet/PHI 2020/MIA 2021.

We used to think highly of the MIA 2021 pick, but there is no guarantee that it's a lottery pick. MIA should still have Richardson/Winslow and MIA is pretty, pretty good as a FA destination.

If this is 3 late 1st rounders for Harris and Harris re-signs, then I think both teams get what they want. I think they have a higher % of re-signing Harris than Butler, but I really think their decisions will be based heavily on how the playoffs go. If the culture is great and the Sixers go far, then sure, maybe both re-sign. If the culture stinks, then they could lose both, but have $$$ to pursue other FA.

Now I'm wondering if Redick was faking his last two DNPs so that they could showcase Shamet..... (puts on tin foil hat). LAC could be players for AD/Butler/name your FA and they'll have those draft picks to bolster their roster.

Feels like LAC traded 75 cents (25 cents for each late 1st rounder) on the dollar, which is about how we summed up the Butler trade, whereas the Sixers got the best player in the deal.

So at the beginning of the season the Sixers roster looked like this.

Simmons
Embiid
Reddick
Dario
RoCo
Shamet
Muscala

plus various other support guys.

Now the roster is

Simmons
Embiid
Reddick
Butler
Harris
Boban
Scott

plus various other support guys.

The first squad was a pretty good squad that had no chance of winning a title and likely wasn't going to even make a real threat at a conference title. That second squad is arguably the best or 2nd best starting 5 in basketball. The team isn't complete yet but it is pretty darn close.

It should be, since there are 7 names. Everyone else is limited to 5.

Is today "Let's make pointless pedantic posts" day and I wasn't notified?

Yep.

All Philly needs is 1 or 2 other guys who play reasonably good defense and can hit an open 3... those guys are findable.

Mike Scott will have games where he looks much better than he really is... just because he can hit an open 3, and he'll get open 3's surrounded by that talent.

Um, Spencer Dinwiddie may not be Curry but he's also no scrub either.
he's also not 70 points on 33 shots good either. you can pretty much assume any guard going against the sixers is going to post 30+ points

You do realize Dinwiddie is averaging 17ppg, 5apg, and 2.5rpg this season, right? Probably improved so much he's getting the MIP award.

he might have been in the conversation before his injury, but unless they cancel each other out, I'd have to think it's one of the Kings backcourt.
