I know i'm older than most here but did any other people ever put balloons or baseball/football cards in the spokes? This is where my story gets sad....I don't know what it's worth but I put a Joe Namath football card in mine and people tell me that was NOT smart !! I don't remember if it was a rookie card (It may have been) but it was damn early in his career.

I feel terrible shame.

I put both hockey and football cards in my spokes Boss...and then I headed on down to Pop's Choclit shop to meet up with Reggie, Betty, Veronica and the rest of the Riverdale gang.

No, but I remember others doing it. We had plastic things we put on our spokes. Some glowed in the dark. It was like the coolest thing ever.

It's a game like Scrabble where they add unnecessary vowels to words for points.

It's only played in Canada from what I've heard...

Thank You higgy.

I remember those too comeds they came along a few years after the balloons and cards.

So do you ride dirt tracks?
Yes

Skate parks?
Yes

Although, in my old age I prefer climate controlled and indoor now:

Rays mountain bike park in Cleveland. And my most recent bike.

You need to get a GoPro and post some vids!

Saw a guy with a T-shirt that said "All I remember is Dirt - Sky - Dirt - Ambulance" My first though was "Hope he had a go pro".

Can not find a picture of it... but I had the Schwinn Predator Rock-n-Roll Purple... roller seat, white mags, front flip up pegs, and back pegs... I forget the rotor... still have it in my folks' basement.

Also skated with a Vision skateboard... Johnny Cop (sp? as I can not find one online)... didn't skate much, so it's in mint condition.. slimeball wheels.. I forget the trucks...

I still have an old Rob Roskopp.

This brough back a bunch of memories. I remember I had a Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp "Ugly Face" skateboard with Independent trucks and Christinan Hasoi wheels. I wouldn't have remembered any of that without the prompt above and had no idea that was hidden in my memory banks. Probably because I saved up FOREVER to buy it as a kid. What a waste of perfectly good memory in my brain.

Uhhh, yeah. That one. Except mine doesn't have any paint on it anymore.

Lol the shocks had no spring whatsoever. They were coiled solid steel

That sounds painful.

The way we played it at our school was:

Topsies: you toss cards towards a concrete wall and if your card ends up on top of other players cards you get to keep all those cards

Flipsies: you toss the cards at the concrete wall and whichever card landed on the ground closest to the wall either picture side up or stats side up, that player got to keep all the cards

These games were at the height of popularity during the years when gretzky, messier, coffey, and bourque rookie cards were releasef :L

Yep; I did the cards.

Never heard of doing it with balloons: How did that work? :noidea:

You baller, you. That looks...hmmm.... radical!

I wish I'd had a GoPro as kid/young man. Instead of capturing athletic awesomeness, I now capture moments like this (some of you may have seen this already)...

You got the long ones and inflated them (not all the way) and tied the neck around the frame and the tail around the frame of the bic and pushed it into the spoke area. They would bust after a while but then you would reload and do it again. They would last a while but the key was not to over inflate them.

Don't give me too much credit, I cased the landing and two guys behind me passed me and I missed my transfer to the main in my first and only grand national event. That was a loooong flight home from St Lou.

But I *did* get in a magazine.

Hey man, it takes balls just to attempt those kinda crazy BMX or skateboard shenanigans. To actually be able to pull them off is impressive.
