The closest team to Indy for the 1st pick has 2 wins, and the only 2 win team with a weaker strength of schedule than the Colts is the Panthers. It's unlikely the Colts make up 2 games with only 6 to go.

Carolina plays @ Indy in a couple of weeks though...

If they get the #1 pick they should auction it off to the highest bidder while trying not to move to far down in the 1st round. Then take one of the other QB's in the draft to groom these next 2-3 years behind Manning while having several extra picks to try and get players to help Manning winning now.

It's incredible how lucky that jackass Polian is.

if i were the colts i'd try to get peyton to play 1-2 games at the end of the season and hope that he plays well while also still ending up with the first pick.

i'd then wipe the slate clean by trading away peyton, reggie wayne, and dallas clark for 3 1st rounders or two 1st and a 2nd... whatever works...just get a major haul. peyton would like this if he goes to a team like the vikings or redskins...teams with good defenses in need of some offense. the colts are a mess everywhere this year and he'd end up with a better chance for a super bowl.

what would you do?

Irsay and Polian already said no way Manning plays this year. He's still on the active roster so he can practice later in the year - to assess how his neck is doing.

I haven't really followed what's going on Indy, but I don't think Wayne has a lot of value right now.

Would anyone trade the Niners first round pick for Manning, assuming he is cleared health-wise?

No, The Colts have completely collapsed! They are pathetic, the rumor is the coach and GM may be fired. I believe they had a run of 11 win seasons until this year. They can't seem to do anything right on O or D. They have to take Luck!! Manning is going on his 14th or 15th year. They need to start all over!!

I would as well. . . .

So, that leads me to the question of how much is too much to bring Peyton to SF?

I'm not sure where I draw the line.

That would put the Colts starting QBs from 1994 through 2010 in SF as Manning replaced Harbaugh there.

Definitely. Without question i would do that. They would never do it for just one 1st round pick, though. Especially considering how low ours is going to be.

If the Colts decide to trade the pick, I really think Cleveland is the most likely suitor. They have the picks, they'll be in the Top 10. And if you remember, Holmgren was aggressive a couple years ago trying to get Bradford.

Makes sense.

I like that AZ, STL, and Seattle all won yesterday. They need to suck just enough not have a chance at Luck.

Would the Rams go Luck?

Seattle would & AZ(despite Kolb) would too.....

Rather see Luck in a Indy/Miami jersey......

I don't know. Remember Montana only brought back a 3rd rounder (I think) and his injury wasn't as serious at Peyton's. Both were toward the end of their careers.

ESPN has an article up on this saying because of the new contract Manning signed with them that he would be impossible to trade. They would either have to trade the pick, not to take Luck, or cut Manning. This assuming they can't Manning to be ok with Luck waiting on the bench.
