I don't think the skins are ready for the steelers . I hate to say it but we are a mistake prone team looking at preseason overall and I have little faith in a better run defense and a injured subpar running game on national TV

This will have to be a show me game

lol

atleast you are consistent with your pessimism

i still remember my first post on the ESPN board in 2008 ?

after we won the opener my first post EVER was

SUPER BOWL !!!

and you told me to stop trolling

as long as we dont screw ourselves with numbskull coaching decisions, penalties & special teams mistakes giving up field position & points ....... we have enough talent to hang with them.

i said the same thing in 2012 tho ... & that ended with a 27 to 12 steelers victory.

Hopefully Hall remembers that game & doesnt get ejected this time.

The beauty of this game is, its only one game. Its early in the season (game one) and in week two we have Dallas at home.

Best case, we win ugly and gain a little confidence going into week two.

Worst case, we lose.. real ugly, and roll into week two with Dallas at home in a shitty mood and ready to make some one else suffer for it.

Either way I will be nice and toasty on Bahamian brew come kickoff, so unless we totally shit the sheets.. I think I will be ok. :D

another advantage of having the steelers at home week one is ...

the crowd has not given up on the season yet &/or selling all their ticket to the loyal steelers fans driving down from pitt.

IF we beat the Steelers all of the NFL world will be jumping on the Skins bandwagon. It should happen they have a lot of players out for the game. We only have to stop AB. Easier said than done but we definitely have the talent to do it. IF we did win this game the schedule looks very easy expect at NYG and Cincy in London before the bye. So a 7-1 or 6-2 start is not out of the question.

Love the optimism but pump the brakes a little. Granted the 1st half of the season is the easier part for the Redskins (the 2nd half is brutal). However - I think that you might be going a bit overboard calling it "very easy". First of all none of us really know how any of these teams will actually fare this season & preseason is really not a good indicator.

Beyond that I would not call games at Baltimore & Detroit "very easy". Winnable? Yes but also games where losing is very possible. Cowboys? Who knows? Regardless of the QB they sill have the best O-line in football & some major offensive weapons - we will see. I would also not take anything for granted with the Eagles regardless of the QB. I would be very cautious about looking too far ahead in the schedule.

I'm surprised at how much people seem to expect us to lose this game. I really feel it's a toss up. First of all its at home and second of all I don't think Pittsburgh is that great. I think we should be able to score pretty well. Meanwhile they're without Martavis Bryant and LeVeon Bell. Big Ben and AB are always scary and DWill will keep their running game going but this isn't the Patriots. They're a solid team but the type I would expect we can be very competitive with this year.

When the opposing team has a QB who never played an nfl season its a huge advantage for us.

I agree we are getting no love this year. When we beat the Steelers then everyone else will be jumping on our band wagon.

Not really a question of them getting love/respect. It is a matter of the Redskins having some legitimate questions that need to be answered including:

1. Can Cousins sustain a high level moving forward & against better competition?
2. Can the run game be good enough to at least keep other defenses honest?
3. Will Docston make a significant contribution this season?
4. Can the defense at least improve in stopping the run?
5. Can Norman come close to his play from last season with his new team?

I am not stating that any of these are not attainable - just pointing out that these are legit concerns & therefore make non-fans somewhat cautious about this team. You are the ultimate homer fan (& I applaud you for your stance believe it or not). However - some people need to look at this more objectively.

I 100% hope that things go the way of the Redskins, but I am not going to go nuts if some things don't work out well in light of the concerns that I have stated (as well as some others).

Truthfully, I'm more concerned about stopping WAS than scoring on WAS...the Garcon/Djax/Reed combination scares me...the Steeler secondary should be better this year, but until I see it in real games, I don't know it.

In either case it's only week 1, hope no major injuries for either side.

So you are not worried about Norman or Breeland? You mention the Redskins depth at Wr and TE. Besides AB who do the Steelers really have to score all these points?

We live & die at the hands of Big Ben...

If Ben is on point with his A game, then you'll hear & see some names dancing in the endzone that you've probably never heard of. Ben is a master of his progressions and he spreads the ball around very well. They can double AB all they want. That'll open up the seams for Wheaton, Rogers, & James. Don't discount DHB either.

I'm certainly not gonna guarantee a win, I wouldnt be surprised at all if Pittsburgh wins. Im just saying it seems pretty 50-50 to me.

Spot on!

The Steelers are banged up already... Sigh... But even at full health I think this game is a great matchup. I have a feeling this game is going to come down to 1 possession, possibly even 1 game-winning FG.

Big Ben is great for sure but outside of AB theres nobody catching passes for PIT that scares me. Granted, AB, DWill, and Ben could still be enough to get the job done.
