Looney had 8 rebounds in 12 minutes. EOD Davis had 7 in 33 minutes. That man really had no interest in playing ball last night

He needs to be removed from top 75 status.

Did not expect that.

Pretty much exactly what I expected.

The Lakers started out fine and even looked like they might actually be looking to take game 2.

Then in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Warriors increased their intensity, started hitting shots and the Lakers decided they were good with the split they wanted when the series started.

Im going to save my comments for after the game but lakers fans got to be sick of this every other game shit from him

Absolutely, but it's not just on him either. There's no established effort to get him the ball in the post or on the move. They got him some 12 footers last night, but not a lot else. That's always the risk when Lebron starts hot; AD gets back-burnered (by himself and the offense).

Lakers got out of sync with their rotations to defend Steph too. Tough when Rui is hot shooting, but having Rui and Vando out there together doesn't work well.

The poor game from Reaves certainly didn't help. Not much offense and his defense on Thompson was problematic.

Lakers need to counter the small ball the Warriors showed, Dray on AD, JaMychal starting instead of Looney, too fast for them.

just saying if your game is based off screens you are lesser of a player IMO. best players in history didnt rely off of screens and picks. jordan wouldnt have needed to push off byron russell if he had a screen set lol

This is such a dumb take. Throughout the course of the game players have been using off ball movement to get open looks and create for others. It's probably heightened today because it's such an effective in game tactic. But a quick youtube search would easily show you everything you need to know.

Here is an entire video of Michael Jordan incorporating moving without the ball, using screens and picks, to get open shots.

Warriors with the nice counter last night with J. Green. This series is where guys like Otto Porter and Bjelica from last year's team are really missed. Bigs who could help space the floor. If Green can produce, this is going to be a huge factor in the series.

Cant replicate game 1 with the warriors small ball lineup. AD cant just sit in the paint.

It was a great adjustment.

Many here called for it.

I think the Lakers let them off the hook a little bit by matching small themselves.

Have to get AD going in game 3. That is top priority.

No if's, and's, or maybe's, coach. Truthfully he's the key if the Lakers wanna win this series. bks brought it up last night, this on again, off again shit simply ain't gonna work...

The consensus on First Take was that this series will totally be decided on if Klay Thompson keeps up the shooting. It was said that the Lakers basically have no choice but to make him take shots and live with the result.

Lebron and AD have to stay attached to the Greens (whichever matchup they choose). Not really a speed aspect for either, just a reluctance to leave the paint to cover JaMychal. Can leave Dray to some extent, but have to be close enough to recover to not give up free rim runs.

That was obviously after game 1

But are we able to say how much of game 2 was AD not trying and how much was the adjustments Kerr made? I guess we'll find out over the rest of the series.

No adjustment in the world should hold him to 11/7. He is a top 15 player

Can't it be both?
No. I don't think kerr made any big adjustments to slow him down offensively. Most i saw was a little more physical but not like they were forcing the ball out of his hands. He just wanted to be elsewhere last night. Having 3 games like this in the first 8 games of the playoffs is unacceptable

13/9 game 2 vs memphis
12/11 game 4 vs memphis
11/7 last night

This is why he should never be a #1 because you cant take nights off in the playoffs and definitely not as frequently as he does

Heard an explanation on Dan Patrick today re: AD that makes a lot of sense.

The reason Pau and Kobe worked was because of Kobe's temperament. Pau wasn't a "#1" because he didn't have the temperament for it. But he thrived with the Lakers because Kobe would get in his ear and demand more. He would also usually try to get Pau going early in the game to get him engaged.

AD's temperament is a lot like Pau's, but Lebron isn't as intense as Kobe was...at least not when it comes to demanding more from the guys around him.

It was also pointed out that AD tends to get down on himself when his shot is off and will stop shooting.
