Owner Steve Ross has approved a trade of three first first round draft picks and other picks, not yet finalized for Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans. Watson waived his no trade clause for the deal.

But wait, Ross has told the Texans to completely resolve all of Watson's legal entanglement, though immediate settlements or the deal is off.

TICK, TIck, tick....................

How long is that going to take? Months? Maybe a year? LOL Not gonna happen unless he says "fuck it, lets do the trade". That's A LOT of risk.

So, it's agreed to in principle, but not really because of Watson being a very naughty rapist.

Same as last week when the Texans told people they had to beat Miami's offer. Cool cool. Nothing to see here.

NFL Insider Josina Anderson reports the Dolphins have not met Houston's asking price for Deshaun Watson.

This contradicts a report from The Houston Chronicle, which reported the only hold up was the Dolphins wanting more clarity on Watson's legal situation. That is unlikely to come until the offseason, but Roger Goodell's comments on Tuesday suggested the league would not put Watson on the exempt list even if he is traded, seemingly giving Miami a little more security if they choose to make the deal. The trade deadline is next Tuesday. Expect several more contradictory reports between now and then as both sides angle for the best possible deal

I hear Goodell is going to suspend Watson 6 months for EACH of the 22 cases. He should be able to play in 11 years.....

Does it matter if they don't feel he's the guy beyond his rookie contract? He's been decent, but hardly a guy you want to really invest in as of yet.

He's in year 2 & missed most of his rookie season coming back from injury IIRC... and they haven't even completely built an offense around him. Do you really expect to learn much about a rookie QB in just 14 games during an offensive rebuild? It's not as if he landed in a situation like Herbert did.

The Dolphins haven't rebuilt that offense much at all, adding one WR. Do we expect them to over the next few years? By the time they fix the O-line, he'll be due his extension.

Tua played in 9 games last year, and was relatively healthy before that (Fitz was starting). Has he shown any more than someone like Heinicke? I doubt the Redskins are doubling down on him as their franchise QB. I'm not saying the Dolphins need to cut bait immediately, but if the Watson situation clears up (or Rodgers wanted to come to Miami, which I doubt), they'd be fools not to jump at either opportunity. He's 25 in passer rating, 19th in QBR, 26th in yards/attempt, and 18th in completion %. Meh.

I seem to remember Tannehill being in this similar situation... Granted he had 6 years to prove himself but there was a lot of turnover on that roster & in the staff while he was there. Something Tua is being subject to as well.

But I see your point. There are at least 10-12 teams in the NFL that would be stupid not to go after Watson if his situation clears up.

And the chances of that happening?
He can call up Antonio Brown and get some advice... Pretty sure his separate cases went away within a matter of 3-4 months. Granted I only think AB had 2-4 cases filed against him, not 22.
