He has no reason to take a cut, Someone will take him and Lions will eat half of his cap hit anyway. Not unlike Suh, although who knows, we are not even sure who the GM will be.
He gone.
Maybe he can get close to 8-9 yards per catch without CJ?Of course you realize Tate will be here for another 6 or 7 years if this happens?
Will fans vilify Calvin if he chooses not to take a pay cut to play in beautiful downtown Detroif next year?
He'll be a Lion next year. I cant imagine it any other way. A new GM won't want to be in the fanbase's crosshair immediately for cutting their best player. A logical fan can see the positive side of trading Calvin. Let's face it, how many Lions fans are logical thinkers??? Not many or they wouldn't be Lions fans. And if they flat out release him the people will go crazy. Personally I would love to see him dump a couple mill for the team and add a quality LT and focus on the D. The way the offense has improved over the last 6-8 games I'd really like to see what Staff and crew can do with a full year together with JBC. Even EE has looked like a solid 2nd round pick.
Here is the list of FA LTs for next year. Remember he said he'd do whatever it takes to keep Suh. I just don't remember any other articles after that of him knocking down the door to do so.
