He has no reason to take a cut, Someone will take him and Lions will eat half of his cap hit anyway. Not unlike Suh, although who knows, we are not even sure who the GM will be.

Kinda agree. No reason to take a cut to play here when someone (prob a winner) will be happy to pay him.

He's gone, at least I hope he is. He deserves to go to a playoff contender. No reason to take a pay cut to stay in Detroit and toil in obscurity.

Let him enjoy the last couple years in the NFL.

Thanks for the memories, Calvin. Just too bad were gonna lose the two of the three best guys this franchise has ever seen in back to back years.

Just like Millen, we will feel the negative effects of Mayhew for years.

I'd take the 1 year cap hit. Need to keep purging the rest of Mayhew's stupidity off the books.

I think it will matter how the new GM views it. New staff that incorporates him in the game plan. He may keep him. The new GM looks at some film of Stafford without CJ and he may be gone.

Myself I feel he is gone.

He is not getting 24 mil next year. Another team like Tennessee could give him 15+ though. Rams are another. Lots of teams would. Not sure if we can afford that in a restructure though.

Of course you realize Tate will be here for another 6 or 7 years if this happens?
Maybe he can get close to 8-9 yards per catch without CJ?

Tate, Moore and Riddick should be able to get their feet open enough for Staff to thrive.

With another large cap increase incoming(estimates 160 million+) someone will pay him. The Lions need to see who they can get before they cut him i'm expecting a free agent feeding frenzy every team in the league is going to have money to spend with limited top talent available.

He'll be a Lion next year. I cant imagine it any other way. A new GM won't want to be in the fanbase's crosshair immediately for cutting their best player. A logical fan can see the positive side of trading Calvin. Let's face it, how many Lions fans are logical thinkers??? Not many or they wouldn't be Lions fans. And if they flat out release him the people will go crazy. Personally I would love to see him dump a couple mill for the team and add a quality LT and focus on the D. The way the offense has improved over the last 6-8 games I'd really like to see what Staff and crew can do with a full year together with JBC. Even EE has looked like a solid 2nd round pick.

I already know CJ will not take a pay cut. He showed me that last year.

No I will not criticize CJ, I didn't do it to Suh(much) other than stating the obvious of him taking the money. Same as I would of done. The ones who got or should have gotten all the vilification was Mayhew and Lewand. Which they took plenty from several of y'all

Here is the list of FA LTs for next year. Remember he said he'd do whatever it takes to keep Suh. I just don't remember any other articles after that of him knocking down the door to do so.

The new GM cuts him and I'm not going to be mad at him. He would be fixing the wrong of old management on the kicking of the can of a stupid stupid contract and restructure.

We as fans get mad at the wrong people sometimes.

Probably before he new Suh was looking for 20 mil a year.

Also,
Beachum, Glenn , then Harris for LT
