1991 Finals vs Lakers. MJ's first Finals. Loss in game 1, then the Bulls wins 4 in a row. Don't give me the home court BS - that's the weakest argument. If you are good enough to be champion, it doesn't matter who's court you are on. Bulls did this after sweeping the Pistons in 4 games in the ECF - remember game 4.. the walkout?

You must have missed last weeks topic on being DOMINANT. It was the word for the day one of those days last week.

1996 playoffs. Bulls lose 1 playoff game to the Knicks (in OT) going into the Finals. In the Finals they go up 3-0 on Seattle, then lose 2.. Then dominated in game 6 holding a potent offense to 75 points.

It's not just the rings. It's winning/beating the fuck out of everyone they faced. It's how they won just as much as being 6-0 in the finals.

I remember that finals. The Lakers had no business being there (didn't even win their division), but when they got game 1, I thought they had a great shot at winning.

MJ had a different idea unfortunately.

Considering the team the Lakers had, I always thought that if the Lakers could have gotten that one, Magic would be considered the GOAT instead of MJ.

After game 1, I thought it was going to be a war because Magic killed us with a triple double in that game. Games 2-5 Bulls put "overrated" Scottie on Magic and made MJ guard Divac the rest of the series. Towards the end of Magic's prime no doubt.

Scottie's game 5 in LA?
32 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, 1 block - 11/12 from the line

MJ's game 5?
30 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks - 6/8 from line

Had that happened, it would be very close in terms of legacy. I'd still have MJ as a cut above though.

He made getting a triple double look so easy. Never forget the first time I saw him live.

Yep, dude made the assist "sexy." I used to play a lot of pickup basketball in the 80's and 90's. It was funny how you'd see guys in the 80's on the court trying to make no look passes, etc. like Magic.

Then in the 90's, when MJ came along, everyone wanted to score like MJ.

Of course, no one wanted to play defense like MJ. lol

Maybe. That series was definitely the "changing of the guard" in the NBA. Had the Lakers won, it would have delayed that for at least one more season.

And out of the three championships lebron has won, two of those series went to 7 games.

If Leonard makes both free throws in 2013, the Spurs win it
If Green doesn't get suspended for game 5 the last series, the Warriors probably win it.

There was more luck involved in lebrons titles than pretty much any top player in history

I think only 1 of us is debating whether Lebron > MJ. And some of us just disagree whether Lebron could have won some rings had he stayed in Cleveland.

How many of the 7 times lebron was in the finals was his TEAM favored to win? You seem to have a hard time understanding team vs individual

I do not agree with your conclusion, but you have some decent points here.

Let me be clear. I agree with Wade and I do not think leBron will ever pass Jordan. However, I also do believe when his career is over it will be closer than anybody cares to admit. Finals record gets way overblown.

Think about this hypothetical scenario. Let's say that Durant wins 6 rings in Golden State and finishes his career with a 6-2 career Finals record. That would make Curry 7-2. In that same time, let's give LeBron 4 more trips with 0 rings for 3-8.

Would that make Curry and Durant better than LeBron in terms of legacy? Hell no it wouldn't. They have more talent. They should win. If LeBron beats them once it will mean more to his legacy than 3 or 4 rings for Curry/Durant, IMO.

The last sentence was for shock value lol

Exactly, I don't understand why people always go to the ring argument when looking at who is a better player...It really doesn't make any sense logically unless the sport is an individual sport like tennis....If lebron had been on say the spurs or lakers and had the same stats but say 7-8 rings is he now better than jordan? he is not any better than with 3 rings as an individual...It would just mean he benefited from playing on a better more talented team and was still the best player in the league....It's a weird argument

Hard to take anyone serious who claims Irving in the best PG in the league...

Yet at the time you blast Lebron for only having 3 rings

I guess you consider Irving just as good as curry...they both have 1 right and Irving outplayed him

Jordan but lebron is fast approaching, but i don't consider rings in my evaluation at all

Regular season stats, playoff stats, PER, and length of being at the top are how i decide who was the best, you could have 100 rings and still not be as good as the guy with 0 rings so it really is irrelevant imo

How about overall finals record as the teams Alpha?

Like 6-0 or 2-1 is a lot better than 3-4

Surely that stat is more important than others.
