Smith agrees to restructured contract, frees up $6m in cap space.

Now they need to do something with Hunter. Great player WHEN he's on the field, but not worth the money for a part time player. Restructure, trade or cut while there's still some decent FA's available.
I think they'll be trading him, his contract and injury will hold his value down

Kirk Cousins might be the GOAT hustler of NFL contracts. This dude is collecting north of $30 million annually on 1 to 3 year deals. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is looking like Ric Flair out there returning to the Buccaneers for another tile run at $10 million less.

I'll believe it when he signs.

Didn't he back out of an agreement with the Ravens?

Someone must be getting cut to find cap space, he won't come cheap.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Lions bent Mensah over the table and gave it to him.

I don't hate moving back, but seems weird to move back to move up in the 2nd and get a third round pick

sounds like based on analytics we "won", I guess downside of a GM that believes in analytics

if they hit hit homeruns on the picks, no one will care I guess

Yep. I don't even understand why the Wilfs bothered firing Zimmer and Spielman at this point. So far, the new regime has been doing exactly the same type of bs that kept the old regime mediocre for so long. It's almost like they never fired Spielman at all and he's just operate remotely in secret via this new dude as a puppet for him; that's how similar they are.

Our only hope is that this new coach is worth a crap. However, so far, the vibe I'm getting is that he'll wind up turning out to be like an offensive minded version of Lezlie Frazier level coach people will barely remember within a couple years of him getting the boot. I'll be the first to happily eat crow here if I'm proven wrong, but I think it's very unlikely based on the new regime's carbon copy style of the failures of the past so far.

As long as cousins is our quarterback, I have zero interest in expectations. I'll watch the Vikings because I love them, but any team with cousins is always gonna be a 6 to 10 win team who will be destroyed in the playoffs. It is what it is.

The problem goes way beyond Cousins. He's a top 15 QB, without question. Maybe even top 10. Yes he has his faults, but what do you propose they do differently? Tank in hopes of a top 1 or 2 draft pick to try drafting a can't miss prospect (not happening as long as we have a QB of Cousins's caliber), or sell the farm for a top draft pick/top end starting QB?

Because those are the only real alternatives. My real problem is that this team has consistently failed to take logical steps to make the most of having Cousins as the guy, and now the current regime seems to be doing exactly the same things the old one proved is a failing endevour.

Better hope they spend the next 2 years taking the leash off Cousins and telling him to go out there and prove he's worth the money. Because again, for all of his faults, Zimmer let the guy rot here for the most part. If the new coaching staff does the same nonsense, I'm done with this team until they scrap everything again and do a legit rebuild.

Cousins is average at best.

ESPN Rankings! Trey Lance ahead of Cousins is absolutely insane! Prescott is too high as well.
