N/R WDE Will Dissly (Bozeman, Montana) commited tonight to UW. Under the radar player who Petersen was recruiting while at BSU. At 6'4" and 255, he's got the size and frame to develop at that position. Posted a lot of sacks and tackles his senior year.

Welcome to the Husky Nation Will!

If it's now down to UW and Wisky for Kaleb McGary, I like our chances.

I want more linemen, I think its a must, you can never go wrong having enough big guys....

UW is looking really good at Dline going forward. Oline is always a position of need, but we got a nice crew of experienced SRs and Jrs next year. Oline was improved in 2013 for sure. Sankey put up a lot of yds with their help.

I believe McGary is projected to be a SDE, but he could still end up on Oline.

One thing that could have a ripple effect on PAC recruiting is the USC situation. They are currently sitting on 14 commits this class, but many are now projecting that John Smith, Damian Mama, and Lamont Simmons could all be wanting to commit to USC over the next two weeks. Possibly some other surprises. If so, it's possible Sark tells 1 or more of their current commits they will have to go somewhere else.

Two of those possibilities are USC commits SDE Malik Dorton (soft verbal) and S Uchenna Nwosu, but Dorton is now claiming he wants to shutdown down his recruiting this week so he may not actually visit UW on Jan 31st as currently scheduled and appears confident he'll be going to USC. :noidea:

Also with the USC situation, it looks like OLB Drew Lewis (Sammamish, WA), who was one of the first commits to this class and who took a visit to USC last week, should be signing with us on LOI. If so, he could be the only true LB we take this class. It will depend on the decision on OLB Aisea Tongilava who visited this weekend.

If USC didn't have the recruiting cap, Drew Lewis following Sark to USC could of been a possible scenario, but this year, doesn't look possible.

Thus, expect a lot of priority put on high quality LBs for the 2015 class, especially ILB position.

Some more on Will Dissly. Impressive.

It should be a must, I would like to see more attention on that position, that is one spot that has lacked talent outside of Shack the really haven't gotten big names....

Timu didn't quite have the big season I was expecting, but the linebacker corps showed up a lot. But I agree that I would like to see more from them going forward.

2 projected ILB's at the minimum in the 2015 class, along with 2 OLBs.

It's also an important year to get that wall up because it's looking like there will be some big gets out there from WA state for the 2015 class.

Landing at least 2 of the 3 WA state 4+ star projected OTs, Trey Adams, Henry Roberts, and Calvin Throckmorton, is an absolute top priority as well. All 3 would be even nicer.

APB Chico McClatcher, RB Austin Joyner, WDE Benning Potoae. Get that wall up and don't let them leave.

Agreed! I know this whole "fence topic" has been discussed on the Pac board but with Petersen now here I believe its not the players that fit a certain system , its the best players available, he ( Petersen) has no issues changing what he runs offense and defense with players he has...

The USC situation isn't that cut and dry. They have had players willing to go walk on when they were out of scholarships in the past at a rate far greater than other schools. They are often more able to have their cake and eat it too. It's one of the advantages they have over the rest of the Pac. How many top recruits are really willing to pay to live in Eugene for 4-5 years? :noidea:

If a few late flips come in it will be interesting to see how Petersen deals with his own scholarship cap. Do any of his lower recruits get bumped? If we only have 5 left and are still really in the running for Baker (which I still doubt happens) how many flips or surprises can they take and not have to deal with that question? Does he over commit and look at those that don't qualify to reduce back instead?

Okay I just found something interesting on Dawgman .com, ( and this topic stays on the this board only please)

Jamie Byrant is a senior this year at Tumwater HS, I mentioned him a few post backs as he committed back in December 2013 to UW, of course he was listed on the commits list, but now they have him listed with the 2013 class?????:noidea:

Regent this is what I have for committed OT this class:
Matt James
Jesse Sosebee
John Turner

at DT Greg Gaines is the only DT listed, with three other guys listed at DE ( which you never know since there light in the britches)

While CP has a very capable staff and one of the best evaluators of talent, the longterm expectations for first year classes like this one (built in less than 2 months) have to....well......

Similar situation to Sarks 2009 class, only 4-5 recruits from that class ever became major contributors.

So unless some PAC quality gems do fall our way the last week, I don't expect CP to take more than 22 this class. No need to waste scholarships like that just for the sake of it. Give these guys a year to get OKG cooking and they can more max out the 2015 class, and early enroll a few that are looking ready to start getting some playing time as fresh and be more strategic with red shirting. In the meantime, we got a nice experienced team full of starting Jrs and Srs returning this year, and the 2012 and 13 classes had lots of talent there. Roster-wise, we're looking good. But 2015 class, we should expect one that finishes ranked in the Top25 and filled with players that realistically could end up contributing as Sophs and starters as Jrs and Srs.

UW, Whisky, and Oregon st. Would be the obvious choices at this point. But since OSU and Whisky have agriculture programs, I've never been in the mindset that he's a lock for Washington. Tough call.

:hope: time...

3 star ATH Sidney Jones who had currently been commited to Utah and had visited UW this weekend, was visited by UW coaches this evening, and has commited to Washington.

“The thing that stood out most was the coaching staff. The staff was real cool and I spent some quality time with Coach Petersen and especially Coach Lake, the DB coach. Brandon Beaver was my host and he showed me around and the whole campus and city of Seattle is really nice, I really enjoyed myself there.”

So there is #18 of the class.

Sure is shaping up to be a much better class than Sark's first. Not sure how many will be starters 4-5 years from now, but there are real pieces that will get game time and maybe more importantly, add to depth to deal with those ever pesky injuries.

April is when most spring CFB practices occur. Unfortunately the huskies have already announced their won't be public access to any of them. But the press will cover most of it so we should firm up whose looking like starters for fall.
