Anyone else frustrated at the US's inability to play possession ball? I mean passing has ALWAYS been a problem for this team, but boy is that on display today. You can't let Germany dominate the possession so much and expect to win or even draw. You won't beat them simply waiting for them to make a mistake.

The field conditions do not explain why Germany can possess the ball and pass it well and the US can't. If neither side had their footing you would have something. That isn't the case. This has been Germany's game the whole way. If they don't start passing better and making better choices with the ball they will lose this game.

No if Ghana wins 2-1 and we lose 0-1 we are tied for goal difference so the next tie breaker would be total goals and Ghana would advance because they score 2.

That's NOT how it works. The next tiebreaker is total goals scored, which would put Ghana in instead of us.

I stand corrected. I hadn't realized there was the total goals tiebreaker.

I guess that means the US can't stand pat and go full defense.

The other sucky thing is that Portugal has no incentive to play defense, their only chance is to go score a bunch of goals.
