Leylah Fernandez!!

Stunned the stunned one, dusted the miserable one, then whupped Monfils' squeeze.

Amazing little player.
Can you name the first two players?

With Pliskova out, I guess I'll root for Fernandez.

Also, I tried to go back and see if there were any draws available on Sunday before the USO started, that had the qualifiers filled in.

Most sites didn't, they had the Q placeholder.

So it would have been even harder for me to make a prediction on Raducanu, even if I wanted to.

It appears Raducanu was a qualifier, while Fernandez got into the main draw based on her ranking.

Konjuh and Kanepi? Can't name a lot of current women's players.

Stunned One = Osaka
Miserable one = Kerber.
Yeah, that's what I meant, the Stunned and Miserable ones.

I don't think of Kerber as Miserable, haha. There would probably be someone else.

Kerber always seems miserable to me.

When she lost to Bianca a couple of years ago she was moaning and bitching.

Sure she smiles when she's winning.

While were at it, I'm not a fan of screechers. And in the Svitolina-Fernadez match all of a sudden in mid point Svitolina starts screaming on her shots.

Doing that out of the blue like that should be stopped. Screech or don't screech, but don't use it as a distraction in mid-point.

There are males that shout too. David Ferrer was pretty loud.

Shelby Rogers with the huge upset.

I don't know if because full stands are back but this feels like the best GS in a while

Did you go this year? You go every year.

I hate all screamers. He was one I really detested. Shut the fuck up.

Roger didn't do it. Screecharenko would even cut off her screech if she fucked up a shot.

It isn't necessary.

An effort grunt is OK.

But to suddenly in mid point when the shit is on the line to pull out huge screeches is horse shit.

The crowd can't say fuck all but suddenly a BANZAI screech is OK?

I don't like it.

Rooting for Radacanu in the Finals, because I want to see a qualifier win.

But I wouldn't be disappointed either way, unless the match was an error-filled one.

good for both of the finalists. The Fernandez match last night was fun to watch and that girl knows how to talk to the NY crowd. Her interview after the match had them eating out the palm of her hand.

Will be fun to watch the final, the crowd is going to have a hard time knowing who to cheer for

Alcaraz has been the discovery of the tournament I think. Too bad he had two five setters that took a toll, but he has potential.

Alcaraz has been the discovery of the tournament I think. Too bad he had two five setters that took a toll, but he has potential.

For what it's worth, Sports Illustrated had Alcaraz as a dark horse.

++++++++++++++

Dark horses

Andy Murray: Former champs get nods. Even when they have metal hips and play against Tsitsipas.

Lloyd Harris: Fine summer includes a three-set win over Nadal in D.C.

Benoit Paire: When he feels like playing ball—granted, appalling sporadically—he’s really friggin’ good.

Frances Tiafoe: Loses too many close matches, but has a wonderful skill for using crowds to buoy his spirits and energy. And he gets a home crowd in NYC.

Kevin Anderson: Best days may be behind him, but he’s a former finalist far more dangerous than his ranking (No. 75).

Nick Kyrgios: Enough ink spilled, but we’ll say: a lot must change for him to challenge for majors. But, by orders of magnitude, he is better than his ranking, a shocking 85.

Carlos Alcaraz: He’s for real. He’s 18. And his success isn’t limited to clay.

Seb Korda: Get on the bandwagon while there’s still room.

Jenson Brooksby: Get on the bandwagon while there’s still room.

Upset special: Taylor Fritz d. Alex de Minaur

Djokovic leads 2 sets to 1. Don't think Zverev can win this match anymore.

Also, Djokovic started grunting mid point during the 53 shot rally.
