Ill probably get flamed for this but I don't care. So his first two games plus the bills and Jets games he get thrown out the window? I'm sorry but just because smith has had a bad history makes the last 2 games stick out. He played a pretty solid d in a divisional game vs Seattle and struggled against the giants one game this yr. And again everyone jumps to conclusions and is ready to take him out. I'm not saying smith is the best qb and we couldn't do better but I personally don't think kap will do us any better right now and Tolzien either.

He is our best option right now and until he starts actually shitting the bed there is no reason to replace him. Week after week I see "elite" qbs play and turn the ball over and fail to score points while putting up the stats that everyone loves. But guess what they are losing those games. Yes we have a great all around team which helps. But smith is the guy and until harbaugh says otherwise or smith shits the bed then we roll with him. Quit discounting the good games he has had which far outweigh his so called bad games.

Who are you talking about?

That's partly in jest, right? No one has any basis to say that Kaep would do a better job starting for a full game than Smith, unless you were at training camp and been to the practices and somehow have a quarterback football IQ above Harbaugh and Roman so you've noticed stuff they have missed.

You don't have any basis that Kaepernick wouldn't do a better job. Wow, I can play that too!

As far as having "no basis", that's not true at all. We know Kaepernick, physically speaking, is much, much more superior than Alex. From the limited time we've seen him - he isn't afraid to throw the deep ball. The Randy Moss throw while he was covered by three, the Manningham throw before the half against the Giants. Not only is Kaepernick capable of making these throws, he's willing to take that shot. Smith won't even think about attempting those passes. That alone will give this offense another dimension, and defenses another thing to think about. It'll stretch the defenses vertically, unclog the middle of the field, and even help the running game by moving a safety back.

From a running standpoint Kap gives up much more also. He's a Cam Newton type athlete, especially in the red zone. That's extremely dangerous, and will have defenses numerous things to think about and multiple looks they have to defend.

Is Kap as polished as Alex? Absolutely not. But to say that there's no basis that Kap can be better than Alex in certain aspects is ridiculous.

Smith actually threw nearly the same percentage of 10+ yard passes vs. Seattle (22%) game as he did vs. the Giants (23%). There was zero velocity issues with all 12 of those passes. Now, there was a pant load of piss-poor decision making but no velocity issues. Sorry.

From PFF's Twitter after Thursday's game:

Last night Alex Smith completed only two passes over 10 yards in the air. 70% of his passing yards came after the catch.

And if you follow their work, this wasn't the first time they've pointed that out.

Smith is going to have a big game against AZ. They are going to make a concerted effort to get the ball to Davis and Manningham so as not to let Smith's confidence waver any further.

Until the next time Alex's confidence wavers. Let's just put him in a fragile-labeled box, don't criticize him, make sure he has all of his receivers healthy and back, limit his throws to WRs and concentrate on him throwing to TEs and RBs, and just take sacks instead of going through progressions, but blame those sacks on the OL. As long as his confidence doesn't waver. That's what's important. Because if he doesn't throw it passed 10 yards, he won't turn the ball over and he'll have a higher QBR! Woot!

Yeah, vs. Seattle Smith threw 5 passes of 10+ and the two he completed were to Moss in the 1st & Williams in the 3rd. The distances of those two passes were 12 & 11 yards respectively.

Confidence is huge for any QB and since when did Manningham become a RB? Get straight and then come back.

Confidence is important. Alex doesn't have any. Never had it, and probably never will. Harbaugh has a done good job of manipulating, makeshifting, and artificially pumping Alex's confidence up, but if all it takes are a few INTs for Alex to lose it, it was never there in the first place.

When did I say Manningham was a RB?

Who are you talking about?

Brady, manning, rivers, Eli. Are they undefeated? Cuz they have lost games where they put up numbers and turned the ball over. And no I'm not trying to say smith is elite but right now I feel smith is still the better option until he starts shitting the bed consistently.

You quoted me when I said the Niners will try to get the ball to Davis and Manningham and then said the following: "Let's just put him in a fragile-labeled box, don't criticize him, make sure he has all of his receivers healthy and back, limit his throws to WRs and concentrate on him throwing to TEs and RBs,".

No, it's not ridiculous Clyde, you have a few throws to fall back on and that's it. Your entire basis is centered around a couple of passes he threw in a series -- without any talk about how he would do over an entire series of downs, let alone throughout a quarter. And if the centerpiece of your argument is that we don't know Kap wouldn't do better -- and that's the reason to put him in on a 5-2 team --- then it's really not credible at all. But you aren't making that recommendation anyway -- when you answered another question you said you weren't advocating putting Kap in at this stage of the season -- is that still your position or not?

His centerpiece is Alex Smith sucks. No arm, instincts, guts, ect.

And it is pretty fucking obvious where you should be standing.

Flat out say right now Kaep is better than Smith.

If Smith goes down and Kaep hits the ground running you look great.

But most likely that isn't gonna happen and you still get the high-ground on a hypothetical cause the NFL good times are usually not for long.

Boooooya Mofos...look who is in the HoF.

Hall calls – Alex Smith and Frank Gore are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Hall recently received mementos from the 49ers' record-breaking offensive performance against the Bills – a game ball signed by Smith and Gore as well as Gore's pink shoes and gloves.

Some will get this and some will not. But that game-ball should have five signatures on it and not one should read Frank Gore or Alex Smith.

"Who is the Offensive Line?"

If I'm wrong, are you selecting some from the defense?

Pretty cool, just for having a reference there for awhile. Alex's jersey from 2005 is there, not for anything he did, of course.

P.S. I like your updated sig.
