The Graveman trade haunts us because we have to watch Toro in the lineup.
Remember right after the trade Jerry said a lot of teams were interested in Toro? Start making some calls there Jerry Genius.

Since everything Mariners is so sunny, I looked a raincloud from the past. Not only did Figgins kill us for 4 years, we forfeited the 18th pick to sign him and Christian Yelich went 22nd. Just a little something to help you forget this turd of a season.

A non-Mariners interesting fact: Noah Syndergaard has 51 career wins and has made $50.5M.

James Paxton has 57 career wins and has made $43.8M.

Syndergaard was drafted by Blue jays with the pick they got for not signing Paxton the year before.

Yes I am bored.

I'm sure we won't get a pinch hitter. This staff doesn't care.

Suarez better than Winker. Who would have thunk it. I didn't want either but I don't want Dipoto and Servais yet here I am watching them drown in their own incompetence.

Okay I have to get rid of the last angst for the night before I hit it:

1- I would rather have Conforto than Winker...
2- Don't worry about Winker, he will hit .400 in the second half. Of course it will be for a new team...
3- I actually gave me my shot of insulin early tonight just relieve the pain...of the Mariners.

That's it! You have been a great audience. Goodnight.

Wanker's OPS vs righty this year is half of what he did last year. It's .544 now. It was 1.070 last year.

We broke him.

Did anyone else question why we pinched hit for the lefty that just homered and was up against a righty?

Yea I thought the same thing last night watching the game slip away in the 8th 9th inning.

We are losing a bunch of 1 run games that we won last year and the year prior.
We are not necessarily playing bad baseball .... just not pulling off wins that are there for a ball club firing on all cylinders.

A whole bunch of home games this next month. A 6-7-8 game winning streak is a must have during that span.

Suarez/Winker were brought in to make us better, no? We traded, RHP Justin Dunn, CF Jake Fraley, LHP Brandon Williamson... BW was our best pitching prospect so if Suarez/Winker don't pan out, this will turn out to be a bad deal for us... Suarez, imo, has been on par with what Seager brought to the table but Winker hasn't been anything to get excited about... Last 5 years Winkers avg was at .288 but is currently .208... His WAR is a -0.7; last year it was +2.7...

We acquired Adam Frazier for LHP Ray Kerr and OF Corey Rosier... Fraziers average over the last 7 years is .277 and he's hitting .234 right now... Well below his average... He's a high contact hitter but he's just not getting on base, nor is he hitting with RISP... Frazier's WAR is -0.1, last year it was +3.1...

Robby Ray has been very inconsistent so it was very nice to see him have a very good game his last start... He was at a WAR of -0.2 prior to that game - he is now at +0.1 since that game... Last year, he was +6.6... Sadly enough, his current ERA is just a little south of his career avg 4.13...

With all this said, we won 90 games last year... Suarez was basically brought in to replace Seager, which I believe he's given us close to what Seager did so we're really not missing much there... BUT, Winker, Frazier and Ray were brought in to make us better than that 90 win team last year... Between the 3 of them, their WAR is -0.58... They haven't brought anything to the table - they're basically playing like role players that are easily replaceable... If it wasn't for France, Julio and JP hitting well, we would be sucking up the joint even more so... Thank goodness L. Gilbert is pitching well because we haven't been able to count on Ray...

When it's all said and done, how long can JD last if he can't take the M's to the next level?

2021 LF Stats:

.191. 17 HR's. 59 RBI

Winker 2022 On Pace Stats:

.208. 11 HR's. 64 RBI's

Seager/Suarez is a wash. We could have had Seager on a 1 year deal but it would have cost $20M ($9M more than Suarez this year).

I still can't believe Steckenrider went from saves leader to DFA'd in just a few months. Winter was a great time to deal him when he was at his highest value. Never trust a veteran reliever who all of a sudden has a career year. What a bad decision.
Update:

The Mariners announced Tuesday that righty Drew Steckenrider, who was designated for assignment last week, has cleared outright waivers and been assigned to Triple-A Tacoma. He’ll remain with the club but will not hold a spot on the 40-man roster.

--------------------------

Now nobody wants him for free. SMH.

MLB won't bunt because they don't want to give up outs at the plate, but are more than willing to give up outs on the bases...
