Yup, Felix is clearly not the same player and its sad to see him decline like this.

On a brighter note;

Trumbo hit #15
Clevenger still at #1

His biggest issue has been the lack of focus when he gets into trouble. Saw it the last game and this game it really hurt him.

Losing Marte and Martin will hurt.

I still think he's protecting his elbow since an injury to it will cost him dearly with the way his contract is structured.

Maybe he'll figure out a way to make his repertoire of pitches work without a FB over 95. We'll see.

Can't get too torn up by this since we won't lose ground to the Rangers.

I'm pretty sure that for the past 10 games or so, our wins and losses have been exactly the same as their game by game. It's pretty crazy.

Maybe it is my old memory, but I don't recall any team running the table in playoffs with a dominate ace and Felix is not that.

I can't believe I'm the beacon of sunshine that I am lately.

The M's have the 2nd best record in the AL now.

If they can only find out what the hell is wrong with Felix, then that might help us surge past the Chicago teams.

Why do we think there's something wrong with him? Look at his game log... this is the first time all season he's given up more than 4 earned runs. He had a bad game... pitchers are allowed to have bad games from time to time.

Felix Hernandez

The control issue he had in April with all the walks should be behind him now. The fact of the matter is that he's not going to strike out 8-9-10 guys a night anymore. He's going to rely now on some RUN SUPPORT which has been pretty damn lacking throughout his career.

Interesting comment because are you expecting him to be the same player at age 30 with 2300 innings under his arm? I don't.
No doubt he's declining but he's still a damn effective pitcher. I think his numbers proved that all season long. He had ONE bad game, let see how he does few more starts before we freak out.

Yep, I'm not sure why there's something wrong with him either. He had like 1 start before last night that was borderline that I remember and a 2.2 era. 2 of the runs he gave up a couple starts ago were his baserunners with Vincent pitching. He's human. It happens now and then, even against bad teams.

He's definitely not playing up to his standards - that is for sure... His era for the month of May was 4.45 vs 1.38 for the month of April... His hit totals went up quite a bit, too...

Miley always scares me on the mound so curious to see how many HR's he'll give up tonight... We'll need to score at least 6 to win this one imo...

well let's see how they come out tonight, I believe this team's mentality is a lot different from past and better talent, they should respond tonight and tomorrow in the right direction.

It's impossible to look at the control and pitch selection that Felix has had for most of the year and not see something is amiss.

If it's not an injury or an issue of him trying to avoid blowing out his elbow and getting Tommy John (which would probably result in him playing the last year of his contract for the M's for $1 million), then great. I have faith that he can adjust with his current repertoire of pitches and make it work. That's probably what we're seeing right now. I hope. Really hope.
