I've had someone's knee hit me like that. It hurt like crap. But my knee cap wasn't shattered. If that's what did it, Kyrie's brittle as hell.
Gordon, it's not a fluke when Kyrie has yet to play a full season since being drafted. The Cavs can't rely on him to carry the team any longer because when they did they didn't even make the playoffs in the EASTERN Conference. LBJ had to be kidding himself thinking Kyrie would be his right hand man...or they masked the fact that Kyrie is injury prone. The fact that they've played together only 1 season has absolutely nothing to do with this problem.
Second, a few injuries had them playing with 2nd and 3rd tier guys and LBJ doing all the major lifting. Do you remember what LBJ looked like at the end of last seasons' playoff run? He freaking practically ran out of gas. Now imagine if the road is tougher next season in the first two rounds. I am willing to bet the other teams noticed that.
Finally, if they can't manage to stay healthy during the reg season how can they expect to elevate their game in the later rounds of the playoffs?
Irving played in 256 regular season games in his career. That is 19th best among all guards over the past 4 seasons.
Only 7 guards managed to play in 270+ games. (Ellis, Teague, Joe Johnson, Conley, DeRozan, CP3, Afflalo).
A sampling of guards that have missed more regular season games than Irving in the past 4 season (the duration of Irving's career):
Lowry, Deron Williams, Chalmers, Kemba, Calderon, Harden, Rondo, Rubio, Lance, Wade, Turner, Holiday, Bradley, Collison, Bledsoe, MCW, Thomas, Livingston
I'm NOT saying Irving hasn't had more than his share of injuries... I just think its being overstated.
Probably because it's the current topic of discussion?Irving played in 256 regular season games in his career. That is 19th best among all guards over the past 4 seasons.

Blame Wiggy for that one.Unfortunately its been the topic of the entire SportsHoopla NBA forum for the past 6 months.
I think the point you're missing are his injuries in terms of his age & career. He's still very young and started having nagging injuries before he was even done growing. A lot of the players on that list you provided are vets where wear and tear is normal at this stage in their careers.Irving played in 256 regular season games in his career. I just think his reputation as injury prone is bigger than reality.
He hasn't completed a season since his junior year of high school. He missed 31 games his rookie year and 23 in his 2nd year. That's pretty significant.
He did improve to 71 and 75 games the past 2 years, but the questions about his health are very fair until he shows otherwise.
It's too bad i am actually starting to like his game close to the same level as lebrons....he just needs to stay healthy
All the players you've listed have had major injuries outside of Wade and Parker. Wade and Parker for the last few years have been on maintenance programs to keep them fresh for the playoffs, so those are horrible examples.
The only person who has a list of injuries worse than Kyrie Irving is Derrick Rose. That should let you know about his injury history. For fuck sake, he only played 11 games in college because he was injured.
I think this is a dumb statement- as this knee injury - which was caused by trauma- is the only injury that was even semi-serious- and this injury does not portend future decline in how his knee operates.
I will take- and any GM, trainer, etc. would take- Kyrie's myriad of mostly minor injuries- over the injuries of a ton of point guards- of like lebron23james said.
I mean- who's injury history would you rather have?
Rubio and his reconstructive knee surgery or Kyrie's? OF COURSE youd prefer Kyrie's issues over Rubios even if that was the ONLY injury Rubio ever had in his whole entire career (even though its not)- because that injury is extremely serious and could cause long term issues.
The same goes with a ton of guys.
Here are just a few - including Rubio- that you would MUCH rather prefer to go through Kyrie's injury history than theirs- because Kyrie's injury issues he should fully heal from and were not chronic -
the guys below? had injuries that were more serious than Kyrie's--- and this is JUST point guards with serious issues at one time or another (or multiple times) during their career
1. Derrick Rose- tons of injuries- ACL among them- well known- no reason to quote anything
2. Rajon Rondo- ACL- among other injuries- Do i really need to explain how serious ACL surgery is to a basketball player?
3. Ricky Rubio- ACL - among others- do I need to explain how serious ACL surgery is to a basketball player?
4. Russell Westbrook- meniscus- multiple surgeries "The Thunder announced Friday that Russell Westbrook has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the third procedure on the knee since April. "
5. Brandon Jennings- torn Achilles- prob the only injury worse than the ACL tear. (Kobe has had both now hasnt he? OUCH- poor guy)
6. Montae Ellis- ankle "Ellis, 22, underwent successful surgery Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala., to repair a torn deltoid ligament in his left ankle,"-- and then after that went on to play in 200+ straight games- shows young guys can grow out of it
7. John Wall (in 12/13)- serious knee injury that forced him to miss the first half of the 2012-13 season Wall, frustrated with a knee injury that threatened his entire season, watched every game from the bench and tried to offer advice whenever the struggling Beal sat next to him. Nearly three months after having a non-traumatic stress injury in his left patella diagnosed, Wall is still unable to practice and has no timetable for his return after his latest visit with New York-based orthopedic specialist David Altchek.
8. Steph Curry- ankle surgeries Stephen Curry's rise from taffy-ankled weakling to the most entertaining NBA MVP ever (Stephen Curry's rise from taffy-ankled weakling to the most entertaining NBA MVP ever) Three years ago, Curry's papier-mâché ankles, not his wet jumper, was what he was known for. Curry played just 26 games in 2011-12 because of ankle problems and, as a result, signed a team-friendly four-year extension that offseason that pays him an average of $11 million annually
9. Cp3- meniscus' removed- multiple knee surgeries- The six-foot Paul of the New Orleans Hornets is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after his Feb. 4 successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee by the infamous Dr. James Andrews. However Andrews removed the torn meniscus , he did not repair it.
Paul will most likely have to alter his game a bit after the surgery, and while he still be able to ball against several players in the league, he will lose some explosiveness due to the surgery(ies)
There are two menisci in each knee however Paul now only has one in his left knee, creating a partial bone-on-bone grinding situation in the knee.
10. Eric Bledsoe- multiple surgeries on knee meniscus- he was lucky and had it repaired- not removed. This is the second time in a little more than three years that the 24-year-old player has undergone surgery to repair a torn meniscus in the same knee. The first surgery was performed Oct. 7, 2011, during the lockout of that NBA season.
11. Deron Williams- bad ankle issues- surgery on both-Brooklyn Nets' point guard Deron Williams has battled ankle injuries for years, and it's been a big part of the reason he's gone from being one of the best point guards in the league -- arguably the best point guard in the NBA -- to being someone who is no longer an All-Star.
12. Jrue Holiday- right leg fracture multiple surgeries "ue Holiday's troublesome stress fracture in his right leg has been a sore spot for the New Orleans Pelicans for quite some time. Thus far, it has resulted in 91 missed games over the course of two seasons out of a total of 168 opportunities. It first manifested in January 2014 and Holiday was expected to miss a couple weeks. Ultimately surgery was required, performed on February 28, 2014, and it sidelined him for the remainder of the season."
13. Ty LAwson- Plantar fascitis in his foot- thats more serious than ANY of Kyrie's issues- ESPECIALLY long term. "I didn't think it was that bad, either, until seven weeks after it happened and I still couldn't run," Lawson said. "So I was like, 'I need to get this checked out.' "
14. DAnte Exum- acl tear- feel so bad for this guy and the Jazz- really wanted to watch him this year
ALL of these Point Guards---- JUST POINT GUARDS- have suffered injuries that make Kyrie's look like a collection of hang nails and bumps and bruises besides the knee-cap which has no long term effects UNLIKE these issues like : Torn Meniscuses that are removed, Torn ACL's, Torn achilees, plantar fasciitis, multiple ankle surgeries, ---those are WAY more serious than a displaced knee cap.
I cant wait to hear how this is bullshit- blah blah blah- with a bunch of swearing and insults and absolutely no backup what so ever- no reasonable arguments- just getting loud.
Just a simple fact here- all of those point guards above have injury issues that either were, or are much more serious than anything that has ever happened to Kyrie Irving. Thank goodness for that.
What else can Tristan do well besides rebound?
Expert analysis agreed that the one thing Tristan is really good at is rebounding but hey you know it all
The funniest part about this thread to me is how you try to reflect everything on the Suns instead of the real problem here… that hideous contract. Changing the subject time and time again won't change the fact that Tristan Thompson and Rich Paul just fucked your boy Dan so hard he won't be able to walk for a month.
OVERPAY. Nothing to do with Phoenix. OVERFUCKINGPAY.
