Cueto and Price will both be UFAs this coming off-season. Will team ownership have to be on the table for whomever signs them?

What are you asking? It sounds like you're saying they'll make a ton of money and could be offered pieces of the franchise instead of dollars?

If so, the CBA prohibits active players from owning any part of any franchise.

I wasnt being serious. It was akin to saying they will cost an arm and a leg. If that were said, I was not actually saying that GMs would need to contact Viktor Frankenstein...

For free???

Would we prefer Maxwell or Morse? I think I would be OK with Morse at league min.

That's all he'd cost
Wouldn't he have to clear waivers? If he was picked up on waivers wouldn't the Giants be responsible for his contract? Forgive the ignorance.

No way in hell will anyone claim him. His contract is atrocious.

If the Giants call offering a minor league deal, he would most likely accept that over a minor league deal from any other team.

no, it's a good question.

He would need to clear waivers, and I suspect that he will. Nobody wants him for $8MM for next year.

You know, Morse came up as a SS. The Giants need a utility infielder...

No way he doesn't get a major league offer. He can DH in the AL, remember.

This is certainly a possibility. But he has been a hot mess this year. I am not sure how many teams would be jumping on him right now with a 25-man spot. Even bad teams dont really want to give time to a guy like him without sending him to AAA first.

However, since they would have him next year for free as well, a team like Texas or Detroit may come calling since they are not that far away from being a contender next year.

I love Morse for what he did last year, but he's been very bad this year. Maxwell hasn't been much better offensively, but at least Maxwell plays adequate defense.

The Giants have elite offense this year, but their bench is quite punchless.

With the best offense in the NL, would we rather have a defensive #5 OFer, or a "stud" bat? If we would rather have defense, why isnt JCP on the big club?

If there were a draft today for catchers only, taking EVERYTHING into account (contract, age, injury status, projection, etc), where do you think Susac would be taken?

Posey would CLEARLY be taken #1, unless whatever team was going to be overly concerned with their salary number moving forward. Posey is the best catcher in the game by a fairly large margin.

Susac, though, I think would be a top 10 pick. He is young, cheap and has shown the ability to learn and improve. His minor league numbers, while not Belt-like, were always closer to SOLID than they were to mediocre.

Is he a top 5 TODAY? Probably not. he has not had the opportunity to catch every day in the majors to prove that. Is he considered to be at least close to that class? Almost certainly..

There's no doubt that Susac is projected to be a very good catcher. Perhaps the fact that the Giants haven't made any trades is because they don't want to give up Susac.

This probably couldn't have gone any better. Hamles to Texas, Price to Toronto, Cueto to KC. The latter two are actually pretty dangerous, I'm excited to watch Toronto down the stretch. But if things don't work out in KC or Toronto, Giants can swoop in and sign one of these guys in the offseason without giving up a prospect. And none of them went to the doyers.

Granted, I do like the moves the doyers made. They still need help in the Pen. I feel like they'll make a strong push for Chapman.
