Elway never really had great wr's either. From my memory his best from his career was Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey. The offense wasn't like the Dolphins of his time where Marino is running a passing offense and having someone in single coverage every play. Elway was very good and probably would have had better success statistically if he were in a better scheme. That's why I find it funny when people compare qb's today to 90's qb's and say they're better now. The game has changed and the spread offense is widely used now which inflates stats.

Elway was shackled by a terrible HC for too many years in Dan Reeves.

Nuff said.....

How? He played before your time. I have seen him on film and think he was great but it's very subjective. I can see him being top 5 but never better than Montana.

We're talking about Dan Marino? He didn't retire til '99! Who are you talking about?

How's it feel to have me, the "13 year old," consistently outwit you? Makes you almost as mad as Tom Brady on a top 5 QB list?

If you call chasing me around from thread to thread with your brand of insults, yeah then you're outwitting me. All you ever do is try to insult me, Nipsey. Never anything about football. But please! Don't stop. You're easily the most comical entertainment on SportsHoopla. :pound:

as are any without Big John....

1. Manning
2. Montana
3. Unitas
4. Elway
T5. Brady
T5. Marino

I know Dan Marino is a better QB than Brady but it's impossible not to discount him over no Super Bowls.

Thought you were talking about Unitas. My bad.

Everything I've seen about Unitas is that he was totally dominant and he did it for a generation with no close second. It's also speculated that he'd do the same in any era so it's impossible to leave him out of the top 5 IMO.

I won't deny that. I have seen footage of him and he was great. I just don't know how to rate him. I don't know the game at his time but he was dominant.

Brady is number 1 ...and it kills me to say it.

1) He was denied 2 more rings by basically miracles.
2) He level of play is still so good against defenses that are so much faster then days of old.
3) Look at him this year alone, starts the season with top 5 receivers out and still finds a way to be in contention.

You're in nothing but threads about Brady and The Patriots. I'm a Patriots fan. You say stupid things about the Patriots and so I correct you.

He rivals Favre and Brees for most overrated ever IMO.

Brees is NOT overrated. If anything hes underrated. Guy is in the top ten in almost every possible qb stat. Talk about a guy that wins with less skill around him, thats Brees

lol oh come on man.. you could say the same about marino .. he didnt win shit

I'm not sure your take on Marino based on your comment but I take it you downgrade his talent
because he was on teams that had no running game, a below avg D and while I like the Mark
Bro's, they were a couple of smurfs that Marino elevated & no rings.

Had the Rooneys drafted Dan, like they wanted, instead of the guy from TT, Dan would've likely
had a cpl of SB's.

To this day, nobody threw the rock like Marino, nobody. Seeing highlights or watching him on TV was one thing, seeing him live is another. He could slide left and throw a 60 yd pass with zip and touch
on a dime to a streaking Duper or Clayton on a 9 route. It was a thing of beauty. He did it consistently. When I saw him live throw for 429 yds and 3 Td's effortlessly as a kid, I was sold. He was my favorite QB of all time, even though I give Montana the respect as #1 for his dominate SB's.

I realize it's more than an arm but he was still dominate. In 1984, if you swap Dan on the 9ers and Joe to the Fin's do you really think Joe wins the SB with the fins? :L No way! That is why it's a team game and the QB success can only go so far w/out some surrounding talent. TDavis to Denver elevated Elway to back to back SB's.

Besides, if it wasn't for your stealers dominate D, Ben wouldn't have won shit, either. He won and no I'm bitter at all just stating facts, with the lowest QB rating in history. Something in the 20's. In 2 SB's he had 3 picks and 1 nice drive for a Td. He was pedestrian and it was Harrison's pick 6 before the half and a 10 or 14 pt swing that led to the W. Ben had 7 attempts inside the zona 20 and could only get 3.

Marino was the man w/out rings and Ben is whatever with 2 rings due to a dominate D. (#1 - #3 in both seasons.

Those are the facts... :yahoo:

Yep, almost 21,500 posts and all about the Patriots.

Your head is all fucked up, Nipsey. You're already delusional and now you're starting to get paranoid too.

In fact, can someone go in the bathroom and check on him again? He's been in there since Sunday afternoon and I think we're all really starting to worry. Here he was the last time I checked.

Misko, if Broadway Joe hadn't made that prediction, we wouldn't even know his name now. :2cents: The guy just wasn't that good.
