It will be tough but do we see enough Red Sox homers for Dwight to take Robinson down?

Dwight evans was a very good player... But he does get beat in every single statistic to Robinson... Really, Robinson had at least 6 seasons better than any of evans seasons... Robinson was better on the base paths too.... The only thing Evans was better at was playing defense, and it wasn't like evans was that great at that...

I don't normally say much on these, but to say that Evans wasn't that great at Defense is a bad statement. If I made a list of the best defensive players I have seen play, Evans would be my RF with Parker backing him up.

he did have a 2 years of being great... should have looked deeper than just his total dWAR... He was very good for 4 seasons and above average 7 seasons...

what i meant was his defense wasn't good enough to compensate for the huge offensive difference...

I agree he isn't good enough to knock off Robinson. It is amazing to me that there have been 3 RF with a higher WAR than Frank. BUt then you look and see who they are.

This isn't remotely close, and I love Dewey (even though he was just before my fandom began). Evans is one of the best players outside of Cooperstown and should probably be enshrined, but Robinson's a top 20 player (and possibly hitter) of all-time.

It's just amazing how quickly Robinson shined in the majors. Came up in 1956 at the age of 20 and batted .290/.379/.558 (143 OPS+) with 38 home runs and finished 4th among NL players in WAR.

Evans had a pretty unusual career path. He was a decent hitter with a great glove early in his career. He got better offensively as he got older and had most of his best offensive seasons from age 29 onwards. Even in his age 36/37 seasons, he had a 136 OPS+.

Both players were productive for a long time.
