OU during BCS

1998-2013
165-45 .785
1 BCS title
9 BCS bowls
4-5 BCS record

Most wins out of any BCS school
Best winning percentage out of BCS schools
Most BCS title games
Second most BCS games

I believe their body of work trumps LSU, Florida and Florida St.

Alabama no doubt #1 with 3 bcs titles.

My top 5

Alabama
Oklahoma
LSU
Florida St
Florida

Oky was the most consistent and had the most success from start to finish of this BCS according to BCS games en sech.

Shut it. Yes, it's a what-if. but i'm fighting with a dirty Sooner now. Let me live.

pure fantasy about Colt v Bama, but I understand why you need it. Mack Daddy's years have taken it's toll on your poor soul...

but hey, you always have your love for Chris to fall back on, eh?

That's why I have them 5th. They have the best resume of all the 1 win Championship teams IMO. LSU, Florida and FSU have two titles, that's the only reason they are ahead. No doubt OU has been more consistent over those programs. The same reason Bama is #1 is the same reason FSU, LSU and Florida are ahead of OU.

Thought about them rmillia. They are a worse Stanford IMO. A lot of feast or famine with them. I was surprised that they only finished ranked 5 times out of the 16 years. That definitely hurt their cause. PSU and Clemson didn't quite have as many great seasons, but they didn't have as many bad seasons either. Not to start an argument but that was the reasoning for leaving them off. A case can be made for them though.

No argument here. First 4 years of the bcs era were rough for iowa

Oregon, Stanford, and Wisconsin all above Georgia. Oregon has been much more relevant than Tennessee even, but I understand your premise.

Winning 2 BCS championships should trump just getting there IMO.
Lets compare OU to tOSU.

1998-2013
161-42 .7931
149-42 .7801 (with vacated)
1 BCS title
10 BCS bowls (1 vacated)
6-4 BCS record (1 vacated)

Best winning percentage out of BCS schools (can be argued)
Most BCS games

The Sooners won the appeal on vacating the 2005 season. tOSU did not appeal they vacated themselves.

FLORIDA was a bit all over the place. I am not sure I would rank them that high.

They have the second worst season of any BC titlist (4-8).
They have six seasons where they failed to even crack 8 wins.
They have a very pedestrian 8-7 bowl record during the BCS era.

They did win two titles, but both of those (especially 2006) were extremely controversial that Florida even deserved to go the game.

I am not knocking them, but their HIGHS were epic, but they had more lows than anyone else in contention.

I'm no fan of Florida but 5-2 in BCS games is impressive. They belong somewhere in the top 5-10.

Are Ohio State and Oklahoma the only two teams to reach all 4 major bowls, and the NCG, during the BCS?

USC should be ahead of Florida and Florida St. Yes they have one more bcs championship than USC, but if we are talking about overall body of work, then USC has a better resume.

I'm surprised Tenn is as high as they are otherwise decent list.

If the BCS would have started in 1999 instead of 1998, they may not even be in the top 25 at all. But they are only one of 11 teams with a crystal ball so I feel they need to be ahead of the teams that haven't. Obviously teams like UGA and Oregon were more consistent but no natty.

All depends what ones criteria is for "Top 25 of BCS era".

Is it how many NCG's won? How many BCS games won? Overall body of work?

OU was the only team to win all 4 BCS bowls plus the NCG during this era. Not saying this makes them #1. I'd have to say Bama with 3 titles takes this. OU had their chance to win 4, but came up short. Was curious about OU's record vs the 2 contenders in last nights game. In addition to OU haven beaten Bama the last 3 times we've met, OU also beat FSU the last 6 times the 2 programs met and beat Aub the only time the two met. The Aub win was in '72, so not BCS related, as are 3 of the 6 FSU wins.

USC also has that AP championship, which has to mean a lot too.
